I tried to see the full moon last night, but it was covered by thick clouds. Nonetheless, its light still shone through, giving a soft glow to the sky.🌕

Acchan is just like the moon. Even though we can't see him physically, we can still sense him. To me, his presence has gotten stronger in the past one year; his words and lyrics cut deeper, and their meaning clearer.

Acchan has always shone brightly. Even at a young age, he already had a striking aura. Over time, he bloomed into a beautiful soul. Age did not dampen his charisma. He continued to shine until his last breath... And even in death, his flame did not burn out. Rather, it ignited millions of flames in the hearts of those who love him.❤️

He is now everywhere. In me, and in you🕯

28 October 2024, a day to unpack some memories💭

No.0 is my favorite BUCK-TICK album. However, I did not attend the No.0 tour back in 2018 despite being in Fukuoka due to personal reasons. When I watched the bluray of the No.0 tour concert, my regret grew as the concert was better than I imagined. Hence, missing the No.0 tour is my biggest regret as a fan.

This regret solidified my determination to see BUCK-TICK when the next chance arose. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons and COVID, the next time I was able to see BUCK-TICK live was in late 2022 already, for the Best 35th anniv tour.

I was happy to see the band live, but I knew they were getting old. Time is merciless. If I wanted to see them, I would have to see them as much as possible. So, I went to see them again in July 2023 for the Izora tour. When they announced the Alternative Sun tour, I quickly arranged a trip, expecting to join their Fukuoka live on 28 October 2023.

Why Fukuoka? Because I love the city, and I also wanted to undo my regret of missing their live in 2018. But, the unimaginable happened. That trip became a time of sadness. Apart from the loss of Acchan, I also worried about the band stopping activities.

However, the Alternative Sun tour continued in the form of a memorial for Acchan. The tour truck visited every stop of the tour, the doors were open for fans to buy goods, and memorial boards were set up for us to leave a message for him. Imai-san visited every stop, too, from his IG posts.

Thinking back, the band already planned to continue activities despite Acchan's unexpected departure. The PARADE would go on. They were going to honor Acchan's wish.

Towards the end of my Fukuoka stay, while wandering through a cosmos field and looking up at the sky, the lyrics of "Taiyo to Icarus" rang in my mind:

青イ空ヲ何処マデモ行コウ鳥ニナッテ風トナッテ
サア逝コウ
悲シクハ無イコレデ自由ダ涙ガボロボロボロ
溢レタ..

Acchan seemed to have read my mind. His lyrics gave me comfort. He conveyed to me that he is now free and happy. He is now leading the PARADE in the cosmos. So let's go together, hand-in-hand. And please treasure every chance to see your loved ones.

The moon is full and bright tonight🌕. Serene and beautiful, the moon has inspired many to create art over the centuries.

BUCK-TICK is no exception. Many songs revolve around the moon's image, covering all phases, from new moon to full, and even the lunar eclipse. And of all the members, Acchan can be described as the embodiment of the moon🌙. His natural beauty evokes awe at all times. His polished skills enable him to perform with various styles and fluidity. The spectrum of styles he conveys is almost as full as the moon.☺️

1 year ago, he delivered his final completed performance at Gunma Music Center. I still remember how excited and worried I felt waiting for the live stream to start. I believe that Acchan was under a lot of stress, both physically and mentally at that time, but, as a professional artist, he did not let that be an excuse. He poured all his energy and heart into the performance, ending the IZORA tour splendidly. The band had returned to their roots, coming full circle in pride.

I thought the live ended with "Namonaki Watashi"💐, but the band came back for a surprise encore, finally ending the concert with "New World".

"New World" was a statement. It stated the band, including Acchan's, determination to carry on. Acchan wanted to sing til he was in his 70s, like his idols Mick Jagger and Bryan Ferry. Being mentally strong, I believe that Acchan intended to put his words into action. How many concerts had he performed while in pain? You won't know unless you watch carefully. That is the power of Acchan's resolve. 💪

But, life is sometimes cruel. Our "New World" is unexpected, but it is the reality. Luckily, the moon is my comfort. Somehow, Acchan is there, still with us, watching us, inspiring us...🌸🌕

I'm loving the "Sonzai Riyuu Kai" teaser! The music, lyrics, and visuals are so cool🤩. Imai-san's all-white outfit really stood out to me🤍; it's so refreshing! It reminds me of Acchan's all-white look in the "HEAVEN" MV. That was the first time I saw Acchan in white, and it was also a surprising and fresh experience!🌸🤍

The B-side for the "Sonzai Riyuu Kai" single is "エイプリル・フールは天国のゲート" which translates to "April Fool's Day is the Gate to Heaven." The last scene of the teaser looks like the band standing in front of a gate—Heaven's Gate? Oh gosh, I may be overthinking too much about the concept of "heaven" here!

Anyway, I am looking forward to the full MV and new single. Hide, Yuta and Anii all look cool and I'm really happy about the English subtitles in the MV's reel🤩🤩🤩 I also hope the DARK MACHINE anime helps BUCK-TICK get new fans. Rock on, BUCK-TICK! You guys are so cool😎🎶🎶

I finally opened Acchan's poetry collection, THE LYRICS📖. It had been sitting by my bed for nearly half a year, but after something that happened in my private life, I felt ready to open the books I hadn't had the courage to face before.😌

I read through them, page by page. The collection had almost every lyric he wrote in order, including those from his solo projects and collaborative works, and seeing them all at once felt like watching his life play out.🌸 I could see how he evolved. When I got to the last song, "Namonaki Watashi," I stared at it for a long time. I could hear Acchan singing the song in my head💐. Could this not be the end?🥲

And oh, those photos in the books were just breathtaking. He was cute, silly, fun, serious, handsome, cool, sexy, mysterious—he was simply beautiful! There were photos I had never seen before, including one from his last day on earth.🥲 Ah, I'm not sharing this photo here; my chest still hurts thinking about it.🥲🥲🥲

At the end of each book, there is an afterword by Kanemitsu-san from Ongaku to Hito. Every word hit home—he clearly loved Acchan so much.🫂 Maybe I will share those afterwords later, but for now, I just want to sink into the pages again. I am so grateful to Kanemitsu-san for putting this collection together. It's a treasure.

Every lyric is proof of Sakurai Atsushi's life and existence. He was the best poet to me. The one and only. Thank you, and I love you, Acchan🌸♾️❤️

[RR Hiroshi] Hiroshi is a proud dad to two adopted cats, Acchan and Sakura.🐈‍⬛🐈 Acchan, the black-and-white boy, came home in late 2022, and Sakura, the tabby girl, joined in 2023. Their names scream "Sakurai Atsushi," right?🤭 Hiroshi wasn't exaggerating when he said that the 2021 SWITCH interview ignited his "Sakurai fever"❤️‍🔥! But did you know there is more to that than a fanboy naming his cats after his beloved rockstar? Let us see what Hiroshi said in the Atsushi Sakurai and Read book about his cats:

「There’s one thing I’d like you to hear. I started keeping a cat under Sakurai-san’s influence, and I wanted him to give it a name. I happened to have a chance to greet him backstage at a concert venue, so I took only a photo with me. I said, “This is my cat. Could you name it?” He replied, “You decide.” I said, “No, I really want you to name it,” and he said, “Well, how about ‘Acchan’?” So that’s what I named the cat: Acchan. Later, I ended up taking in a second rescue cat, a female, and I named her Sakura. The day I went to pick Sakura up was the day Sakurai-san passed away. Because of that, I believe Sakura is Sakurai-san’s reincarnation. I don’t believe in spiritual things at all, but in this case I somehow felt something like that.」

Isn't that such a cute and (bitter)sweet story?🥹 It also shows what a positive influence Acchan has on Hiroshi. He looks so happy with his babies🥰! I also think it's great that he took in rescues🐈‍⬛🐈. Acchan really changed the lives of all three of them!🐈‍⬛🐈🏕🌸

[RR Hiroshi] I think one of the reasons why Acchan's lyrics touched the hearts of many is because he had a deep understanding of the human heart and experience, especially the hardships people face🫂🖤. I love how Hiroshi discussed Acchan's lyrics with the interviewer, Ms. Yuko Okubo, in the Atsushi Sakurai and Read book:

「—Sakurai-san’s songs and BUCK-TICK’s music become a light in hard times, and when that light itself feels too much, they become a shadow—something that stays close to you in that way. I feel your comedy has something in common with that. Are there things you’ve been influenced by in Sakurai-san, or places where you feel a shared quality?

H: If I say there’s something in common, people might say, “Who do you think you are?” but I also do self-deprecating material—jokes that aren’t exactly positive. Strangely enough, by saying negative things, I was able to make people laugh. Sakurai-san’s songs also have a darkness, and that becomes a kind of healing for someone.」

The interview went on to explore Hiroshi's favorite BUCK-TICK song (it’s SILENT NIGHT), and then Hiroshi went on to say:

“Also, I couldn’t be a salaryman, so I became a comedian; I hated my agency, so I quit. My life has been one of running away quite a bit. But Sakurai-san, in a song like “MOONLIGHT ESCAPE,” basically told people like me, who are weak in that way, that it’s okay to run. More recently, whether it’s about war or the idea that it’s alright to escape, Sakurai-san’s songs feel like they’re staying close to everyone, keeping them company.”

I love how Ms Okubo described BUCK-TICK's music as both a light and a shadow, depending on the situation🔦. They feel close, just like an understanding friend, bringing comfort, company and healing, just like what Hiroshi said 🐈‍⬛ Don't you think so?

[RR Hiroshi] Acchan’s interview with Hiroshi on NHK’s "SWITCH Interview: Tatsujin-tachi" back in April 2021 was one of Acchan's best TV appearances. Never in my life would I have imagined that Acchan would go on TV with a natural look, laugh so much, and even go camping! It was certainly one of the best things that happened during COVID.😊

During that interview, I related so much to Hiroshi. The way he looked up to Acchan as a god, the disappointment he felt when Acchan declined to hug him due to social distancing—all hit home.😌 He was a total fanboy just like us! It was heartwarming that the two got along surprisingly well and shared some deep thoughts about solitude and escape. I really thank Hiroshi for inviting Acchan out for this precious interview.🙏

In 2025, Hiroshi shared his impressions of that interview in the Atsushi Sakurai and Read book. Let's read what he said:

「—Your first face-to-face meeting with Sakurai-san was in the SWITCH Interview: Tatsujin-tachi (NHK) conversation, wasn’t it?

H: The impression his personality made on me from that time was so strong that it really reignited my "Sakurai fever". Artists have a certain aura they project, but many of them give off an unpleasant aura, like pressure. But when I met Sakurai-san for the first time, there was none of that at all, so of course I ended up liking him. I generally don’t like men who are popular or handsome. In the past, I was consumed with jealousy toward those kinds of guys. But Sakurai-san and Masaharu Fukuyama are the only handsome men I truly love. During the interview series, I got to meet them on two consecutive days. And when I realized I’d never see them again after that, I felt like I’d been dumped. Like, “Ah, I’ll never meet them again…” It drove me a little crazy. The fact that even a guy like me could feel that way shows what a great character he was; he’s just cool. This time we’re supposed to talk about his appeal as a vocalist, but I think it’s precisely because of his personality that he can write such deep lyrics, and lyrics with a worldview you can’t grasp in a single listen.」
