COFFEE OMAKASE POPUP ☕️

never thought coffee omakase could be a thing, but the @coffeebyjon x @konacoffeeco popup completely blew me away!! there were four courses each with their own pairing 🤯 soo delicious

☕️ ka’u — paired w hawaiian salt bread
🍵 mango lassi matcha — paired w salted mango marshmallow
🍫 yuzu chocolate granita — paired w yuzu & salted chocolate milk bread
🍓 strawberry basil panna cotta
🍵 soba tea for the road

the mango lassi matcha and yuzu choco granita were my favs but honestly every course was so creative and thoughtful

this is a limited time popup only thru end of june so go make ur res before it’s gone!! 🏃‍♀️

After a year in the making, Jon has finally launched his new coffee omakase at the same Kona Coffee Roasters location near Grand Central 🎉

It’s called a coffee omakase, but it goes beyond just coffee: the experience includes coffee, matcha, granita, and even thoughtful food pairings along the way

5 courses + 3 pastry pairings ✨

What we tried:
☕ Ka’u (100% Kona): Natural-processed with peach, honey, bergamot, jasmine, and cherry notes. Fruity, floral, and clean. Paired with Hawaiian salt bread 🤩 Pro tip: take a bite of the bread, then sip the coffee! Thank me later

🍵 Mango Lassi Matcha: A complex yet flavorful drink with a creamy, slightly tangy sweetness. Paired with a salted mango marshmallow. Both were unexpected in a good way and honestly surprised us. Lowkey feels like this could be a great cocktail too 🤫

🍋 Yuzu Chocolate Granita: Didn’t expect yuzu and chocolate to work together, but it does 👀 Slightly on the sweeter side, with a bright citrusy acidity and a subtle bitterness from the yuzu. Paired with yuzu & salted chocolate milk bread

🍓 Strawberry Basil Panna Cotta: Light, creamy, and slightly tangy with a fresh basil note. Thought it would be very sweet, but it was just the right amount 👌

🍵 For the Road (Soba Tea): Jon and the team prepared a cup of tea to-go — a nice way to cleanse the palate after all the sweetness and richness from the omakase. Such a thoughtful touch 😍

If you’re into coffee / matcha or just want to try something a bit different, this is a really fun experience to check out

It looks like April is already fully booked, with the next available slots in May 🫨 so plan ahead 👀

We made reservations almost 3 months ago and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Each course had its own vibe and the pairings were fantastic🩷

Such a fun, one-of-a-kind & intimate experience. Still thinking about it and we’re ready for the next season bookings to drop😍

What to expect at this NYC coffee omakase popup,
available for a limited time — DETAILS ☕️

This is a multi-course coffee pairing experience in New York City, with each course featuring a drink + bite pairing. The first course was a Hawaii coffee paired with salt bread made with Hawaii volcanic salts 😱

What to know:
• 4-course menu
• $60 pp before tax + tip
• Saturdays + Sundays only, Reservations recommended

My verdict: worth it if you love coffee and dessert pairings. This experience feels more like a mini culinary experience than just grabbing coffee.
