Thank you pals! Look what we all did!

There are so many people we will be thanking over the next few weeks who made Coffee Right YOW possible, and first up, are all of you!

To everyone who came to the event, to everyone who followed along online, to everyone who helped spread the word, and to everyone who supported our raffle, thank you!

Of the many wins for the coffee community we believe this supported, we are super happy to announce that our raffle raised $3065 for the @semillacoffee micro finance program that donates non repayable loans to the coffee producers that we roasters are all so lucky to get to work with.

For next year's festival we are going to set a lofty goal of raising 10k for producers and this important initiative, and we know with all of you, and all the awesome businesses who were so generous with their prize donations, we can make it happen.

Millions of smallholder coffee farmers worldwide struggle with food insecurity. Many face 3-8 months of seasonal hunger each year as coffee income dwindles and food prices soar. They are the most important members on the coffee supply chain and the ones who are the least rewarded. So every dollar we can help raise can go a long way.

We really can't express how overwhelming the support and turnout was for Coffee Right YOW. And we are already lining up dates for future events and ways to make them even better.

In addition to the 2027 Coffee Right YOW main festival, we'll soon start announcing some small (and always free) micro-events with some awesome roaster and café pals that you won't want to miss.

Thank you for all the love. We are just getting started and can't wait to see what we can all do working together to make Ottawa the coffee capital.

Missed your chance to grab some merch & beans?

Come find us at the @parkdalepublicmarket night market tonight (Wednesday, Artery booth) where we'll have our Coffee Right YOW Miir mugs, totes, candles, and some bags of the @AeroPress comp coffee. Limited supplies as the festival mostly wiped us out. Whatever is left we'll put online tomorrow and can ship it whenever or pick up at the roastery.

We'll also have some other light roasts on offer, and we MIGHT be sampling some of the comp coffee and some other funky coffees (we say might because Roaster Will is holding it down tonight and he doesn't like to schlep, but we'll continue to nudge him into sampling submission).

Fun starts at 5.

Ugh Ottawa, y'all really showed up! 💥

We're still coming down from that rush. What a time! Thank you for showing up and braving the lines.

Stick around as over the next few days we:
👊 Share some appreciation posts
🥤 Tease some (always free) micro events happening before the next Coffee Right YOW
📔 Talk about what we learned from this first one and how we'll make it even better (with more space to breath we promise)

This was the first festival we've ever thrown, we learned a lot and are already planning ways to greatly increase the venue size and the efficiency of the lines. Have faith, we're committed to continue growing and always improving this event.

And always keeping it FREE. Coffee is for everyone.

But we also thought it was pretty awesome! And we'll say it, we're pretty proud of what are very small, but very mighty team, accomplished:

💰 Most of the vendors sold out and had a blast (and if we want to keep having the best and most unique vendors from across Canada coming to the capital, having a good sales day and all-day customers is a good way to do that).

☕ We served over 1600 FREE flat whites. Thank you @laithenrietta!

🏅We held what might be one of the most well attended @AeroPress @eightouncecoffee events ever (feels like we had more people watching the final than the WBC final).

🌎 We had over 25 amazing roasters and tea houses from as far as Vancouver, Dartmouth and Brooklyn and everywhere in-between!

🏩 And maybe most importantly we made lots of new coffee and community pals and saw a lot of fun being had. This festival is meant to bring us all together and have a jam and we feel it was pretty successful in doing that.

Thanks for coming out. We can't wait to keep this event growing and keep building Ottawa so it's not only the nation's capital, but its coffee capital as well.

Tips to get the most sips! See you soon!

Tip #1 -Staggered Start: if you're someone that can drink caffeine later in the day, come in the afternoon and the lines should be a little more mellow. Or if a moment seems particularly busy and you aren't in a rush, check out the AeroPress contest happening in the park stage.

Tip #2: Hydrate And Dominate: to prepare to drink the most caffeine imaginable, drink lots of water. We'll have a water station and a free seltzer palate cleanser station thanks to our sponsors @cityseltzer.

Tip 3: Sampling like a champ: Each roaster and tea house will have 4oz compostable sampling cups. Try and reuse them when you can (coferments and that's all you'll taste in that cup so get a new one). We also encourage you to bring your own cup and you MIGHT even get bigger samples of your favourite sips. No promises.

Tip 4: All Day Affair: if you're going to spend the day, and you should, vendors like @almanacgrain @valleysausage and others have breakfast options before switching to their lunch menu. Two meals out in a single day is always a special treat.

Tip 5: Just have fun. Enjoy everything the festival has to offer, even some long lines that you might just make some new friends in (so far the best positive spin we could come with to long lines, second best was "enjoy a moment of self-reflection, we'll keep workshopping.).

Tip 6: Here to help: keep an eye out for volunteers in bright vests, and if looking for specific ones some have a role written on the back of their blue vest (media liaison, Accessibility guide, ask me anything).

One of the reasons we did this...

Was to see a scene like this. Roasters, vendors, volunteers, industry pals, new pals - just having a time.

And we can't wait to have a bit more time to share this awesome moment, a festival that's been brewing in our head for a few years, with all of you tomorrow at @parkdalepublicmarket.

Because if the industry party was this packed and electric, we know Ottawa is coming out tomorrow.

A huge, huge, HUGE thank you to @almanacgrain for hosting such a giant party. Their space is beautiful. Their food is top tier. Their stone milled grains and breads are the best. And we love them dearly.

We also want to thank @stubbysottawa for seriously some of the best pizza in town. We can't thank them enough for their generosity tonight.

We'd also like to thank @dominioncity and @cityseltzer for keeping everyone hydrated. They are just the greatest pals a small business could ask for.

Also a huge shout-out to @eightouncecoffee @cafune.ca henrietta @thearterycommunityroasters for some truly epic and overly generous prizes for our espresso throwdown. Thank you to @thebooj and @barista_wang233 for judging and great job Teaghen on MCing and organizing the throwdown, everyone seemed to really enjoy it (coffee should be fun).

Coffee Right YOW is free because coffee is for everyone.

But you can purchase some raffle tickets! 100% of sales are donated to @semillacoffee micro finance program that provides non-repayable loans to coffee producers.

🎫How to buy/claim: Tickets can be purchased online (link in bio/website) or at the festival merch/info booth and some roaming volunteers. Draw is at 2pm for all prizes.

If you buy them online you have the added benefit of picking up your prize at The Artery in the week following the event (we will email you if you win so you can miss the draw), if you buy them at the festival you have to be present at the draw and pick up in person at the festival merch booth after.
