We recently stumbled across this wonderful review in Electronic Sound written by Paul Clarke and published in August 2025. He looks back at Robert Logan’s incredible debut album from 2007 - ‘Cognessence’ -

“On receiving the debut album by this Hungarian-British teen in 2008, I was convinced I had an artist as important as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher or Boards of Canada on my hands… …Listening to ‘Cognessence’ 17 years later, my belief that this is one of the finest electronic albums ever made, is a still a hill I’d die on.”

We concur!…you can check out the album on our Bandcamp site alongside his subsequent and equally brilliant albums and EP’s including his most recent Slowfoot release, the 24 track opus ‘Brutalist’.

Birds disclose something like an alternate geometry of being. From our vantage point they move with bodies and consciousness that feel near-alien - in grace, beauty, play - and in the sacrificial violence inherent to all nature in its predation, dying, and renewing. Their modes of flying take countless forms - lissome, gliding, angular, sudden, eruptive - each its own articulation of how a life might move through the world. They embody the full spectrum of existence and expression, both familiar and genuinely other, inhabiting dimensions we can only partially comprehend.

Ancient cultures recognised this: birds as psychopomps, creatures that traverse the boundary between worlds, between life and death. In augury, they appear not as symbols but as manifestations of pattern itself - the way raptors hold transcendence and the kill in a single form, sublime and brutal without contradiction. They do not moralise the predator’s insight; they simply enact the cycle, reflecting existence without sentimentality in a way that feels to us both beautiful and terrible.

In flight, in song, in their displays and nesting, in shedding and regrowth, in their seasonal migrations and care for the young, and in their violent necessities, birds reveal what we are prone to obscure: that beauty and terror are not opposites but interwoven aspects of the same feathered surface. To observe them is to witness nature thinking through a radically different form, one that long preceded us: beings of pure becoming, never fixed, always in the act of transformation. by @cognessence
