Their entire team is built around second chances. Many of the chefs are in recovery, and instead of letting their past define them, they’ve built a restaurant that’s focused on giving back. Through their Pay It Forward program, customers can purchase meals that are then provided to people experiencing food insecurity, and they’ve already helped serve so many people throughout the community. The mission is incredible, but the food speaks for itself too. @coldfriendskitchen ⭐️ been trying to make it over to Cold Friends Kitchen for months and they did not disappoint! Right now they have a residency at New Amsterdam in Lawrenceville, and they also have a food truck at Velum Fermentation in Southside. Burgers were legit, and those pork belly bites whoa 🔥🔥🔥 give them a try, they have really good food and they’re in two really dope locations 💯 they also have a “pay it forward” program where you can purchase a meal for someone in need, check out their website for more details! I finally had a chance to check out Cold Friends Kitchen when I was on the Southside and they’re one I’d go back to. I loved that they had real vegetarian and vegan options (rare for a food truck!) but the Pay It Forward was the best thing I ordered, hands down. This truck is doing it right, Pittsburgh My brother says their pork belly bites are the way to go so if that’s your thing there’s a pro tip. 60+ singles. 4 local businesses. On a random Thursday night in Pittsburgh. 🥹❤️ Tonight was our SECOND SOLD OUT Match Crawl, and I’m still kind of blown away that I get to create things like this. We brought together an incredible group of Pittsburgh singles and spent the night moving from bar to bar, meeting new people, having real conversations, playing Mystery Bachelorette, laughing way too much, and yes… passing around ridiculously large jugs of electrolyte water because we still have to function tomorrow. 😂💧 But one of my favorite parts? We didn’t just create a fun night for 60+ people. We brought a crowd into FOUR local businesses on a weekday that might otherwise have been a much quieter night. And we’re only expanding from here. We recently launched Yinzers Hang, our subscription community built around smaller, more consistent get-togethers for people who want a social life without always having to plan one on heylo. ❤️ Some nights might be 60+ people bar hopping. Other nights might be 10 people trying something completely random together. But the mission stays the same: making Pittsburgh feel a little less lonely. Huge thank you to Gabe from @coldfriendskitchen for believing in this weird idea when I pitched it four months ago, and to my friend @lisaray333 for being the person who connected us in the first place.
