🎬 Netflix’s Copenhagen Cowboy 👉 Exclusive behind-the-scenes moments from the set, curated by cinematographer @coldnail_ , documenting the making of the series directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn @nwrefn 🍿

Dop notes below:
“Working with Nicolas Winding Refn, you can definitely feel there’s an (neon) aura around him. He’s so intentional on everything he shoots and very drawn to his stomach feeling (That’s probably why you’ll always see him with a blanket scarf tied around his belly when he’s on set). If something doesn’t feel right, he’s quick to change it up. Being able to look over NWR’s, shoulder every day pushed my personal cinematography a lot. It felt like every time I was on set, it was a lecture on the film school I never got accepted to.

I grew up watching his classics. When I was 13 years old, I purchased my first DVD. It was, Pusher II, by NWR.. I’ve watched that movie countless times and loved it every single time. Without knowing it, I like to think it’s what subconsciously has shaped my own filmmaking journey with raw characters with strong stories.

While on set, I noticed NWR is always super close to the camera and rarely by a remote monitor. He’s a very strong cinematographer. He’s incredibly detail- orientated: from cast, make-up, costume, set design, camera, lighting, the whole setup is drenched in a NWR coating.

Making every single frame incredibly powerful and beautiful. It always looked like a piece of art. That inspired me a lot, to try and shoot the “BTS Making Of” in a similar style and tried to create synergy between the two projects.”

Take a look behind the scenes of "Copenhagen Cowboy"🍿
ㅤ
Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (@nwrefn), the series follows Miu, who after a lifetime of being sold as a human good luck charm seeks revenge against those who wronged her, an odyssey through Copenhagen's criminal underworld.
ㅤ
To capture the series' distinctive visual language, the production relied on Astera Titan Tubes, Helios Tubes, AX3, AX9, and NYX Bulbs. For the round dolly track sequence, Astera Titan Tubes and AX3 were used, helping create the bold, cinematic atmosphere that defines Copenhagen Cowboy.
