We were invited to dinner at @haisan.ca and left seriously impressed. Chef @stevenche’s new 16-course Chinese Pacific Northwest tasting menu is something special. Creative, thoughtful and, most importantly, delicious. Thirteen savoury courses and three desserts, all beautifully executed. And yes, we were very full by the end! The room is beautiful, the service was excellent, and even the ceramics are handmade by Steven himself. We also loved the unconventional wine pairings. Refreshing to see something beyond the usual suspects. Michelin-worthy? We think so. 👀 Haisan is highly recommended. Definitely worth experiencing. 📍 2892 Commercial Drive, Vancouver 📸 Additional photography by @davidkaruhije #VancouverRestaurants #VancouverFood #VancouverFoodies #Haisan #umamii by @coldteacollective
She’s back, fishes! 🐠 🐟 🎣 👩🏻‍🍳 Cantonese cooking takes the stage as Vancouver chef Katy Cheung (@ktcby) returns to Top Chef Canada season 13, after placing third in season 12. We can’t wait to see what she cooks up! 🍜 She returns to the competition with the intention to demonstrate her growth, to represent Asian women in professional kitchens and to put Chinese cuisine on a national stage. “Cantonese food is what I grew up loving. Cooking it on Canada’s biggest culinary stage means a lot, for me and for the people who see themselves in it,” shares Cheung. Joining this season’s judging panel as guest judges and tasters include notable Canadians and esteemed culinary greats Chef May Chow of Hong Kong’s Little Bao. Cheung says Chow was an early inspiration in her own culinary journey, marking a full circle experience. Cheung was born in Vancouver and raised in Hong Kong; she currently lives and works in Vancouver and is known for Cantonese and Pacific Northwest cooking. While earning her Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia, she would experiment with food by making sandwiches that honour Cantonese cooking. This hobby became a Hong Kong-based sandwich concept she ran with friends, where every menu was Cantonese or globally inspired. With no culinary school behind her, Cheung went on to cook at Michelin-starred Burdock & Co from 2019-2026. Catch her cooking next at a special collaboration dinner at Michelin-starred Bao Bei on November 9th. Tickets on sale via @baobei1 Top Chef Canada airs Tuesdays at 7:00pm PT / 10:00pm ET on Flavour Network and streams on STACKTV. #TopChefCanada #BaoBei #CantoneseCooking #ChineseChef #michelinrestaurant @topchefcanada @stacktv @ktcby by @coldteacollective
