I’m usually not the type to put such sympathetic content out into the world, but many of you knew my dog Jimmy and many of you actually knew him well. He passed yesterday, cancer unfortunately took its toll.

Jimmy.. the meaning that you’ve brought into my life these last 14 years cannot be compared to anything else I’ve ever known, you were more than just my dog, you were more than my friend. You were there for me in every waking moment, through the ups and downs, through every twist and turn that life put in front of me.. I have always had you by my side. The two of us have shared so much; we were cut from the same cloth, you and me. We were both brought into this world by the same person, we were taught the same lessons, we have endured the same hardships, we’ve been touched by the same blessings, we’ve been loved by the same people, my friends were your friends, we suffered loss together, we overcame together, we set off for college together, we graduated together, we moved into the Lakehouse together, we watched it burn up together.. You and I welcomed in so many new faces over the years, we were tested by so many of the same trials, we conquered every feat that life has ever thrown at us, and we did it all with the same smile across both of our faces each and every day. You and I have built so many stories to tell.. Just recently we escaped blazing flames together, we then picked up the rubble and hit the road for greener pastures. You and I have walked the bounds of this earth side by side for so long, everywhere I went you always followed. Jimmy, I don’t quite know how to walk the path without you on it, but I will forever be so grateful for the journey in which we walked it together. In all honesty I’m just not quite sure how to take those same steps forward without you beside me, taking them too. May our souls forever be intertwined Jimmers.. farewell old friend, and may we see each other again. by @colehetrick

It’s been a wild couple of days, I really owe a huge thank you to everyone out there who has shown their support. It’s been heartwarming to see such a big community of people out there with such a big place inside of their hearts.

The backstory here is an electrical fire likely stemming from the stove that set my entire house ablaze. I guess I woke up just in time to still be able to get out, I really owe God a massive thank you. After 3 trips in and out of the house to get both of my dogs out I eventually got overran by the spreading flames. I gratefully owe the Pinellas County Fire Department a massive thank you for getting my one dog Scarlett out of the burning house, I have the utmost gratitude for your department and the squad present at my home that night. Losing my belongings is one thing, but I couldn’t have stomached losing her too.

I’m thankful for the memories, friendships, and experiences that were brought into my life by living at the Lakehouse these last few years. My first real house as an adult feels like it has already given me a lifetime of stories to tell, I hope that the house’s spirit continues to live on one day within someone else the same way it lived inside of me. Cheers to new beginnings, with one chapter of the book now closed may another page begin to be written. by @colehetrick
