GET JAZZY WITH JREENA ✨We cannot wait to be back in the studio with the one and only Jreena Green during our training program in London this November! As a Choreographer and Authentic Jazz Practical Historian, Jreena is a leading voice in British Authentic Jazz. She combines lived performance experience with historical research, teaching the African American roots, cultural context and evolution of Jazz, Swing, Charleston and Lindy Hop. She has taught at London Contemporary Dance School, Central School of Ballet, Rambert Youth, Phoenix Youth Company and Mountview, as well as other major dance institutions. As a choreographer and movement director, her credits span film, television, theatre, commercials and live events, including ‘The Phantom of the Open,’ ‘Three Little Birds,’ Guinness, Marks & Spencer, Balmain, Google, YouTube, KFC and Levi’s. She also directs Jazz Dance Elite and ‘Swinging At The Cotton Club.’ Her work centres African American vernacular dance within British dance history, challenging Eurocentric narratives and preserving its cultural legacy. Jreena brings such wisdom and spirit to the space, and has made an incredible impact on our understanding and appreciation of this work’s historical context. We cannot wait for more research and PLAY! 🔥 #history #roots #jazz #training #jackcolejazz by @colejazzdance

Announcing ASH! 🔥 We are beyond thrilled to have Ash joining us once again for our November training program! Ash brings a masterful understanding of Bharatanatyam and it’s historic integration into Cole’s vernacular, having been first introduced to dance by Amala Shankar, wife of Cole’s teacher and inspiration, Uday Shankar. Ash began his formal training in Bharatanatyam with Guru Thankamani Kutty, who trained at Kerala Kalamandalam under Rajaratnam Pillai, Maruthappa Pillai, Arunachalam Pillai and Rajalakshmi Ammal. Acclaimed by Dance Europe as one of the finest Indian classical dancers of his generation, he was handpicked by the ‘This Is It!’ team to dance a duet with Michael Jackson at London’s O2 Arena, and later created a Bharatanatyam solo to ‘Man in the Mirror’ with Lavelle Smith Jr., broadcast to an audience of more than three million viewers. Ash is currently undertaking an Arts Council England-funded Developing Your Creative Practice project, ‘Building the Voice I Needed,’ exploring a dual-heritage performance language at the crossroads of musical theatre and Hindustani classical music. We cannot wait to be back in the space with his infectious spirit and brilliant mind ✨ Join us in London this November! Only a couple more spots available 🔥 link in bio!! #london #india #training #culture #jackcolejazz by @colejazzdance
