I’m still recovering from Friday. I’m totally blown away by the amount of love and support I was shown. My heart is immensely full. This show took everything out of me over the last 4 months or so which made me less present here as well as IRL but every step of the way I had people reaching out & encouraging me, understanding my limits and helping to fuel me forward.This show is about my neurodivergent mind. It is about my hearing loss & sudden onset of tinnitus. It is about my life as a medicated (and unmedicated) musician, vagabond, awkward heartbroken outcast. It is a love letter to my fellow neurodivergent people. To disabled people of all kinds. To artists of all kinds. The goal of the show was to make people feel the overwhelm that so many of us feel on a daily basis but more importantly to make those who resonate with this work feel seen, represented and held. I had so many amazing comments on opening night of people saying that they felt something they lacked language for being out on display bringing them catharsis. At a time where the world feels most grim, dwarfing the importance of most other things… art & community is always here with us & for us. I’ve never felt more confident in my role here in life. Friends, family and collectors traveled by plane, train, bus, car and by foot to show up for me. My amazing wife & partner in life @sarahtheshadowwitch (who’s journey has also deeply inspired my own) has been in full support even when I had to commit 12-14 hour studio days for months on end with no real promise of what it would result in besides a new body of work. She spent all day and night curating arrangement and hanging the show with @colonna_contemporary & I on weds. I love you Sarah. I think my biggest takeaway from this show is how fucking lucky I am. My friends, my family, and even my stranger supporters who I don’t know… these people in my life are truly second to none and I feel at times I do not deserve them. Thank you all so much. I’ll post some more insights & images though out the week.
