The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile in Paris, France
located at the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle (formerly Place de l'Étoile) at the western end of the Champs-Élysées.
Ordered in 1806 by Napoleon Bonaparte to honor those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
Built over 30 years and inaugurated on July 29, 1836.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located beneath the vault, marked by an eternal flame that is rekindled every evening at 6:30 PM.

The Tuileries Garden is a public garden between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France. Created by Catherine de' Medici as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was opened to the public in 1667 and became a public park after the French Revolution. It is gorgeous and I am obsessed with the green chairs.

"Bouquet of Tulips," by American artist Jeff Koons, a massive metal sculpture located outside the Petit Palais in Paris, France.
Unveiled in October 2019, the sculpture was offered as a gift from the artist to the City of Paris to symbolize solidarity and optimism following the 2015–2016 terrorist attacks.

Before becoming our third President, Thomas Jefferson was the Minister to France and Ambassador to Paris between the years 1785 and 1789.
Jefferson is honored with a statue near the Musée d'Orsay in Paris by sculptor Jean Cardot.
The statue depicts Jefferson holding a quill pen in one hand and an architectural drawing of Monticello in the other.

My mother loved Mary Cassatt. So it was a wonderful serendipity that the Musée d'Orsay is running a Cassatt exhibit while we are in Paris.
Mary Cassatt is best known for her mother and child paintings. She was called a "painter of children and mothers" by art critics and dealers. Cassatt did not reject this label. Interestingly, Mary Cassatt never married, had no children, and devoted herself to her career.

The Napoleon III Apartments located on the first floor of the Richelieu Wing inside the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
Napoleon III was the first elected president, second emperor, and the last monarch of France.
Built in the 1850s for Napoleon III’s Minister of State, the rooms reflect the lavish, over-the-top design of the Second Empire style, inspired heavily by Louis XIV and Louis XV royal aesthetics.
The interior features heavy use of gold-leaf gilding, elaborate stucco, painted ceiling frescoes, crystal chandeliers, and deep crimson-red velvet upholstery.
