Turns out the cure for the Monday blues is live music, cold bevs and a room full of Collarts creatives at @thetoffintown 🎶

Interval brought our music production, performance and audio crew together to mingle, discover new artists and celebrate our creative community and we’re so proud of how it turned out 🎤🎸

Our animation students also took over the big screen, and our music students played live sets alongside some of their work in real time!

Night one of Live in the Basement 🔊

Last Wednesday we launched our new monthly series with @collingwood_basement bringing beats, tunes and live performances from some of Collarts’ finest up and coming music production talent.

Huge congrats to @olinehopen @nards_live and @kane__au for kicking it off with a bang, with each of them bringing their own sound to the night and keeping the vibes high from start to finish 🔥

Meet Mitta, our Music Production capstone student who spent last term composing two original works on the world's largest Roland System 700 🍄

"Everything changed when I went to my first techno set and experienced hypnotic techno, a genre that encapsulated what I had always sought when creating music: storytelling, progression, and tension and release," Mitta says of what shaped her sound.

Last term, she worked closely with her mentor and Collarts Music Production Lecturer Brett Little to explore modular synthesis from the ground up, moving from smaller systems to the iconic Roland System 700 housed at @synthtemple to create Hypha and Physarum, two connected pieces exploring organic texture, tension and release 🎧
