거대한 숨, 고요한 안식 Vast Breath, Quiet Haven Exhibition Period 2026. 07. 04– 07. 16 Collast Seongsu Opening Hours 12:00 – 19:00 ※ Closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holiday ”The Great Clod breathes out, and its breath is called the wind.“ As Zhuangzi wrote, to the ancients the earth was a single breathing body — and the first principle East Asian painting theory demanded of a picture was qiyun shengdong (氣韻生動): does the painting breathe? This exhibition sets that ancient proposition before us in canvases of 400 and 480 ho, each stretching over five metres. Before surfaces that exceed the field of vision, viewing becomes an act of entering rather than looking. Lee Jaeyual‘s Sansoomong is an emotional terrain built stroke upon stroke, like inhalation and exhalation; the night sea of Youngjae’s We Met Again II is a painting of mourning, its darkness filled by hand in tens of thousands of graphite strokes — and upon it, a whale and a cat meet again. Between these two vast paintings, Seo Yeon‘s golden fields are where the exhibition catches its breath. All three artists layer — slowly, again and again. The awe we feel before these paintings comes not from their size but from the weight of accumulated breathing. For a moment, lay your own breath over theirs. Looking back at this past May, it was a truly passionate journey connecting with collectors and art lovers both at home and abroad—from Art Busan to the Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong. Seeing your eyes light up in front of Gallery Collast’s curated pieces and hearing your warm words of encouragement became our greatest source of inspiration. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who took the time to visit and brighten our spaces. Throughout the month of June, we took a step back to breathe, spending a meaningful ”time for recharge and leap“ to prepare even more profound, high-density art experiences. Fully recharged, Collast is now ready to run again. We look forward to welcoming you soon with an even more innovative and moving lineup of exhibitions in the second half of the year.
