That’s a wrap on the Chamber After 5 Networking event!

We want to give a huge thank you to the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce for partnering with us to make this event a massive success. It was incredible to see both alumni and new students come together to connect with professionals and practice networking skills.

Here’s why events like this matter:
⭐️Gives real-world career exposure: Students are introduced to authentic and diverse career pathways.
⭐️Emphasizes the importance of postsecondary education: Many business experts attribute their success to transferable skills developed through postsecondary education.
⭐️Builds confidence and relationships: Students gain experience holding professional, direct conversations with employers and mentors and form relationships that promote success long after graduation.

By building connections between students and the professional community, students are reminded of the importance of postsecondary education and set up for long-term success✨

From connecting with each other to connecting values with college essays, we are setting the foundation for post-secondary success at Bard Early College New Orleans, Benjamin Franklin High School, and Walter L. Cohen High School.

🌱Building Community First: Our classes are centered around honest and open dialogue. Spending our first sessions creating connections is an essential building block for these deep conversations.

📝Tackling the College Essay: Students and college admissions counselors agree – applying for college is an incredibly stressful process, and college essays are a major part of that stress. We are providing tips on how to create personal, value-driven essays to decrease some of this anxiety.

💡Our Goal: By breaking down this process into simple, concrete steps, we are giving students the tools to feel less overwhelmed and completely confident in their final essays.

UWSELA’s Young Leaders United presented a panel discussion on the state of youth opportunities and advancement in New Orleans. Hosted and moderated by our partners @tfa_gno, our Executive Director Clara joined the panel alongside @follownocc.

We acknowledged the challenges in education and workforce development here in Southeast Louisiana. But we also discussed the outstanding work that is being done locally to continue addressing these challenges. There have been some huge wins and trends in career advancement, and we are excited to continue working with such amazing organizations to keep growing the next generation of leaders ❤️

It’s looking like it’s going to be a great year with our students at Morris Jeff, Bard Early College New Orleans, and Walter L. Cohen High School!🎉✨

This year, we’ve expanded our Beyond Ready workshops, and we’re excited to partner with these three new schools. Coaches started by meeting the students and setting program expectations and community goals. Our facilitators are committed to student success — and it looks like our students are committed as well🥳

We have a year FULL of activities to help these seniors feel prepared for post-secondary education. It’s only the start of the year, but we’re already excited to see where they go next😉

We’re excited to bring our bi-weekly Beyond Ready workshops to one of our newest partner schools, Morris Jeff! Last Monday, we attended the senior orientation to talk about the program, and we are excited to help guide students to college and career access and readiness. And students are excited too — we had nearly 60 students apply for the class!

Our Beyond Ready workshops include:
✅Weekly workshops during Advisory
✅FASFA + scholarship support
✅Hands-on application and essay support
✅Pathway exploration by meeting with professionals in different fields

We look forward to meeting with our students on August 26th to start getting BEYOND READY for college!

Ambassador Retreat was everything we needed before the semester kicks off. 💙✨

From meaningful conversations to unforgettable moments, this weekend reminded us that the best leaders aren’t perfect, they’re intentional, authentic, and always learning.

This retreat also marked the beginning of something new: Big CB/Lil CB, our new peer mentoring program to help build meaningful connections with incoming students and helping them navigate college with confidence, encouragement, and a strong sense of belonging.

Here’s to leading with purpose, serving with heart, and making every student feel like they belong. We can’t wait for the year ahead! 🌱

One of the most rewarding parts of our work at College Beyond is seeing students grow into leaders who help guide the next generation of college-bound scholars.

This summer, we partnered with Bard Early College New Orleans for a weeklong Personal Statement Intensive led by our Summer Interns and Peer Ambassadors. Through mentorship, feedback, and encouragement, these college students helped rising seniors tackle one of the most challenging parts of the college application process: telling their story. By the end of the week, nearly all of our high school participants had an outline, draft and for some, a close-to-finalized personal statement! 🎉

College Beyond is excited to partner with @servelouisiana to recruit an AmeriCorps member as our 2026-27 College Access and Persistence Program Assistant.

This full-time, 11-month position (starting September 1, 2026) is an opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of Pell-eligible and first-generation students across Southeast Louisiana as they navigate the path to and through college.

As a Corps Member, you'll build skills in:
✨ Student outreach & engagement
✨ Event planning & workshop facilitation
✨ Communications & marketing
✨ Data management & analysis
✨ Research & program support
