“𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳”
36”x48”
Oil on panel

This painting was initially started as a portrait session. The head of the main sitter was in the middle of the composition, and the other figure was behind her, almost like a helper or a guiding spirit. As the painting progressed the guiding spirit’s body began increasing in opacity, no longer see through, and began to engulf the main sitters head. Eventually the main sitter became completely enveloped by the helper, and only her hand and forearm remain exposed at the bottom of the canvas. If you look closely you can still see the face of the sitter in the belly of the helper.

I am not sure if this is a positive or negative story, and I am not sure who is really helping who.

It’s a very sad day in our city. Bryant Park set up an empty chair for every person we lost that day. You could leave flowers or notes. This one hit hard and truthfully. #peace by @collierwest
