Very proud to announce I was recently endorsed by the incredible Turkish cymbalsmiths at @bosphoruscymbals 🙌

This feels like such a milestone in my journey, and also feels like just the beginning. It has been totally inspiring to deepen my practice and commitment to drumming.

I’ve done things my own way most of my life, and with that there have been ups and downs and many uncertainties. I’m grateful for music being the North Star. To be recognized and have Bosphorus’ support truly means the world. 🙏

I’ve been getting to know these beautiful instruments all week and couldn’t be happier with how they play and feel! Like a sonic fingerprint.

Very excited to take em on the road and for you to hear them. May the music spread some joy in this crazy world!

Huge thanks to @tcarmandrums and Mehmet Öztürk for this opportunity.

See ya out there, soon 🤙 by @collindrums

Last night we played the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Before the show @jimmyscratchjames mentioned that this version of “You’ve Got a Friend” (and all of side A) off Donnie Hathaways live record was recorded there in 1971. An honor to play a room with such history, the spirits all live on there.

Thanks LA! by @collindrums

It’s very rare that in a month and a half a day so meaningful can come to fruition like this.

A month and a half ago, @marycatemost told us that @projectonward needed support. The very next day we assembled a wrecking crew of thoughtful, creative, visionary folks to rally for the good of community. It was a no brainer: Project Onward is beautiful. The work they do for these artists is so important and needs to continue.

Between ticket sales, art sales, raffle tickets, and patreon subscribers the party raised over $26,000 for them to keep the lights on, to keep creativity flowing.

If you are reading this, please know this is just the start. If you didn’t make it to the event, consider donating now, subscribe to their patreon, get involved with them. Let these artists continue to create and support themselves. Organizations like this are few and far between in today’s world, and the impact they have cannot be underestimated.

So proud of our dream team and all involved in making this day a reality:

Our backyard benefit show is this Saturday! Going to be an absolute ripper. As per the last party we threw let’s keep details very simple.

On Saturday, in the backyard of @qualityknob there will be:

Art galleries and silent auctions of P.O art

Music by
Rowland Hazard (rhymes with Shmeal Nancis)
Dark Cayon
Louis Demarco

There will be sandwiches from Logan Inn

There will be drinks and you can also BYO

An all vinyl disco at night featuring DJ sets from:
Neal Francis
Ryan Gac
(me 😉)

Bring friends you enjoy being around. Bring anything you’d like. We are working hard to make this a very special thing for both Project Onward, and our community, and we’d love for you to enjoy it.

MAY 30th

We are throwing a party to save Project Onward! The most wonderful foundation running out of Bridgeport Arts Center, which holds residence to over 60 visionary artists with disabilities. Not only giving them studio space to work, but also a marketplace to support themselves through their art. Pretty rad stuff!

This year they were severely underfunded and are at risk of closing their doors! We cannot let that happen. So we’re helping the only way we know how: throwing a super HUGE party for the community!

Come out to Quality Knob on May 30th for:
A really awesome lineup of bands you may know 😉
Lots of food, drinks, merriment
Art galleries spread out through the space
Fundraisers for PO

And a disco afterparty that will go all night long 🪩

Tapping into all the reserve tanks at 4:45am for our late night set at @tipitinas

Thanks to all the night owls who stuck it out with us, and the band for the trust and willingness to explore the deep unknown together.

In honor of the warm weather in Chicago, we’re throwing it back to some sunny months ago when @ericlubamusic and @collindrums treated us to a duo take on the Stevie Wonder classic “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”

Eric is playing a custom 1975 Rhodes 88 Satellite set done up in baby blue with a mint sparkle top, and boy do we miss this combination! Topped with a Moog model D (and incredible left hand playing), what more could you ask for?

Had such an amazing week with @willllturner and @collindrums tracking drums and percussion for a bunch of new @theheavyheavy songs. I loved learning about Will’s approach to writing and recording and these new tunes are really cool. Collin’s sensibilities and drumming were a great fit for the music and there wasn’t an hour that went by where I didn’t look through the control room glass and see him back there behind the kit smiling as he was laying down a take. Great vibes all around… a really special week. Thank you guys. The only thing missing was @geegeethemayqueen Maybe we can get her in next time! Can’t wait to share this music with you one day. Big thanks to @thebyrdagency ❤️ taken in SHIRK studios by @collindrums
