There are no words big enough to capture what these former students mean to me. 🥹

On Election Day, they showed up as young leaders, walking neighborhoods, holding signs, encouraging voters, and pouring their hearts into something bigger than themselves. And to be clear, once you’re my student, you’ll always be my student— and they proved that in the best way possible.

To the parents, thank you for trusting me with your young leaders. They carried the day with energy, dedication, and belief in what Selma can become.

This campaign was always about people and progress, and seeing them step into leadership reminded me that our future is already in good hands. I appreciate yall more than you know! ✊🏾 #electionday #selma #fyp #foryou #explore by @collinspforward3

Selma,

First, I want to congratulate Councilman Clay Carmichael on his victory last night and extend prayers to him and his family regarding the recent news that was shared.

Second, I want to thank everyone who voted, prayed, supported, volunteered, and believed in this vision. We did the work, we created the plan, and we offered ourselves to serve. There is nothing more meaningful than that. With an 11-vote unofficial margin, it is important that every ballot is counted, including absentee and provisional ballots. I also am aware of the voters who were turned away at the polling place. I will be working with our city election officials to ensure this ballot counting process is carried out according to Alabama election law, whatever the requested procedure may be. Every voter deserves to know their voice was heard, no matter the outcome.

This campaign has always been about people and progress. That work did not begin here, and it will not end here. Stay engaged, stay in the fight, and continue to hold those elected to the highest standard. Selma deserves it. We deserve it.

Today I’m excited to share the final piece of my plan for Ward 3: Collaboration and Unity.

This pillar is about building the partnerships and relationships that make real progress possible. It means:

✔️ Working with local, state, and federal leaders to bring resources into Selma.
✔️ Making sure neighborhood voices shape policy decisions.
✔️ Keeping Ward 3 united and supported during times of challenge.

From start to finish, my plan has been rooted in one idea — people and progress, through transparency.

Together, we can bring this vision to life.
