Creating memorable moments.
Took Cayden fishing for the first time. I couldn’t hang after 30 minutes. Got so sick I had to lay down 🤣. The rocking of the boat took me out. He checked up on me a couple times. And he was the only person on the boat that caught something.

I finally stopped @collistory long enough to have a conversation. He’s always moving quick and on a schedule. The last day at @chicagocollective was perfect to snag 30 minutes for a portrait.

The easel was waiting for us already. I just had to get Collis positioned right. A portrait like this, with a wild @kestin.co jacket ends up being more about color and texture than composition but in the end it all matters.

Typically I need to rush portraits- 15 minutes tops- but this time I had some breathing room and it was good to get this portrait just right. by @collistory

End to the Locs

Six years ago, when I started to grow my locs, it marked a new beginning for me. As we all emerged from Covid, I was searching for inspiration and trying to adapt to a new way of living, seeking some normalcy in our lives. My locs gave me confidence and helped me discover a part of myself that had always been there. I learned that confidence can spark from any aspect of our lives when seeking change. It was more than just hair to me; it was a sense of identity.

I found so much joy in my locs, especially during one proud moment when my three nephews admired how my hair looked and decided to grow their hair so they could have locs too. That meant a lot to me, knowing that I have young Black boys looking up to me as a role model. It made me understand the importance of change and how I want to care for myself moving forward. People from all walks of life complimented my hair, leading to meaningful conversations and relationships. I will forever cherish the last six years; it was indeed one of the greatest chapters of my life.

There wasn’t a particular reason behind cutting my hair; I just felt it was time, as everything in life has its season. I look forward to this next chapter with so many great things ahead of me. I do intend to grow my hair back in full capacity sometime in the future.

In closing, don’t be afraid of change. With change, we discover unique aspects of ourselves that have always been there.
