3 Course Meal: Part 3 - The Desserts

To finish off the meal, I made a dark chocolate mousse topped with homemade vanilla bean whipped cream and fresh strawberries, along with lemon and blackberry jam spritz cookies.

The mousse was made first so it had plenty of time to set, while the spritz cookies came together quickly thanks to lots of practice making them earlier this year. The homemade whipped cream added the perfect balance to the richness of the chocolate, creating a simple but elegant ending to the meal.

3 Course Meal: Part 2: Appetizers – Caprese Salad & Marinated Mozzarella
One of my goals on dinner day was making sure I managed my time effectively while maintaining food safety throughout the cooking process.
Before assembling, I completed some prep work by cutting up mozzarella for the marinated mozzarella and combinied it with sun-dried tomatoes and oil to allow the flavors to develop. I also prepared the bread that would be served alongside both appetizers.
Once the prep work was finished, I assembled the Caprese salad and sliced the baguette.

Part 1: Homemade Sourdough Focaccia Bread

Prep Day -

Today was all about getting started on my homemade sourdough focaccia bread. I used my sister Kensley's recipe, and I was really happy with how it turned out! During prep day, I also picked up all of the groceries needed for the meal, which helped me create a plan and timeline for preparing each dish.

Dinner Day -

After completing the prep for my other dishes, I melted together rosemary, garlic, and butter and brushed it over the focaccia before placing it in the oven. The fresh flavors paired perfectly with the sourdough bread and made for a great addition to the meal.
