Boadicea Blue Sapphire. Their best fragrance in my opinion. This is a smoother, fruitier yet deeper take on the original Boadicea Blue Sapphire. I love how it is more rounded and smoother in some facets but it still does not pull its punches. It is still an immensely strong & special room filler. When I first sprayed Outlands, it immediately felt familiar. There is that unmistakable Amouage signature with opulent woods, smoky resins, and a kind of rich golden warmth that fills the room. The opening is textured, with a burst of spice and amber that wraps around creamy sandalwood and incense. It smells expensive at first sniff, like something that belongs in the same lineage as Interlude or Epic, and I can tell it was built with the house's grand, layered style in mind. As it settles, the magic starts to thin out. The smoothness gives way to a synthetic sweetness that reminds me of countless Arabian style perfumes on the market currently. There is a slightly plasticky musk and a heavy handed oud accord that feel a bit forced. It is as if the sophistication that usually defines Amovage has been replaced with something more generic, more eager to impress with strength rather than depth. The DNA is still there, but it is blurred behind cheap sparkles of synthetic amber and spice. By the drydown, I find myself torn. Outlands is bold and long lasting, and it will turn heads, but it does not stir the same admiration I have felt for the brand's classics. It smells too familiar in the wrong way, echoing a dozen inexpensive blends that chase the same Arabian fantasy. I wanted refinement and discovery, but what I got was déjà vu dressed in luxury packaging. It is wearable, even likable, just not memorable in the way Amouage used to be @amouageofficial by @colognecollection_
