Making a squared-off baker, Bill van Gilder style, suggested by Anita Clemetson. Handles inspired by Wheel Turned Pottery. I love trying new things! I can’t want to see how these fire in my new-to-me kiln 🔥🔥🔥#throwlikeagirl #handmadeceramics #functionalart #handmadepottery by @colors_in_ca

Using a modified mini paddle skewer stick to make a gallery on the base of a fruit fly trap. Credit to @miibc_ceramic for the gallery shaping idea. Works like a charm!
I’ll be covering this method in my next session of classes at @south.bay.ceramics. Join me to explore the challenges and joys of lidded pots 💙

Kiln haul!! I will bring some of these to my markets this weekend. Lots of orcas and fishing bears, some monet stackers, a flower mug, some large altered vases and bowls, including ramen bowls, … and check out the new humpback whale mug - new style for me 💙🐋

But here’s a question for you - should I set aside two orca 🫍 mugs and two 🐻 mugs for an online sale? They’ll be $85 plus shipping (usually $8-$15 within the lower 48 US). So the poll is - should I save 4 mugs for an online website shop update next week?

Let me know what you think in the comments! Any other ideas?

I have no idea if this will work as well as I hope it does. We shall see!! If you have any tips for making embossing plates (for the purpose of texturing slabs of clay), I’d love them!!

Also, the music is my dad and his friend playing mandolin and guitar together.

Here you can see some of the process for my altered vase - and listen to my dad playing mandolin. He’s not on social media, though, so I can’t tag him. Doesn’t he play beautifully??
