Today's painting, made outside in camberwell high street, in the drizzle. I added some shots of my setup and some close ups. My umbrella got caught in the wind, it stayed in the air for about 30 seconds! Loads of people were laughing

Sketchbook pages. I'm in the habit of drawing churches! here's two recent studies of churches in West Kent, there's one of st Stephen's in Tonbridge and one of St. John's poking above the shops in Tunbridge wells.

This summer I started smoking a pipe, I hated it at first, it felt like cigarettes on steroids, then I spent way too many hours with the YouTube pipe community, reading blogs, bought a few more perfumed and aromatic blends, and learnt to sip the smoke rather than chug it. I am now a full convert.
Here are two self portraits from last weekend, sitting in the garden, looking in the garden mirror

This is the first drawing of London that I'm happy with. I'm heading up each day to study painting at Camberwell College of Arts and starting to fall in love with the vertical lines, rushing bodies and traffic.

Haven't posted for a while. I have been moving house ready to study for a Masters degree in Painting. I went back to the national portrait gallery today to see my painting, I'm still quite overwhelmed by it. I have included paintings from all my heroes here. I love that my painting will be hung alongside these legends however brief the exhibition is. 10 points if you can name every artist?!. Also great to see the work in print, it's seldom I get to see my work in print form.

Very surreal to see my painting at the @nationalportraitgallery last night. Had a blast at the private view for the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Portrait Award. Lovely to meet other artists and see their insanely good work, the surfaces were all so glossy and lush. Going back today to show my little girl. I'm so chuffed!

Drawings from last couple of days, made with graphite stick
1. My five year old said i'm going to do an observational, (she actually said that), drawing of the roses, so I sat and drew her drawing, my self portrait is in the garden mirror.
2. A field of cows
3. A wood pigeon on top of a lampost

All my work is from life, I love painters who paint from photos but I can't do it anymore. by @colourfulgoo
