when alex and i moved into our 100-year-old bungalow five years ago, the front yard was neglected, drought-stricken, and mostly just dirt. but we knew it had all the potential in the world to become our dream garden.

even though we’re just renting, we couldn’t help but pour into this green space and give it the tending and love it deserved.

now it’s bursting with lush greenery: drought-tolerant native plants, found cactus and succulents, rosemary and lavender, garden roses, grass that springs up after the rain, the occasional patch of moss and mushrooms, fruiting fig and lemon trees, and every color of bougainvillea you could imagine. 🌵🌿🌾🍄‍🟫🌴🌺

it makes me so happy to see neighbors stop to admire the garden or take pictures of the new blooms poking through our fence. the hummingbirds and butterflies and house finches seem to be big fans, too!

it’s only fitting to share just how far this patch of dirt has come this earth day 🌎 swipe through for the transformation and la locals, let me know if you want some rosemary or cacti cuttings 🌱 taken in Los Angeles, California by @colourwars

all of my favorite things converge in russel wright’s spectacular home and studio in garrison, new york: moss gardens, japanese minimalism, mid century design, and harmonious indoor-outdoor living 🌱

this gem is about an hour north of manhattan and the highlight of my few days trekking around the hudson valley ✨ highly recommend to any of my architecture-loving pals taken in Manitoga / The Russel Wright Design Center by @colourwars
