One chapter closes. Another begins. 💙✨

As the inaugural Executive Board of the Columbia Nursing Pathways Collective prepares to transition out, we’re reflecting with so much gratitude on what this past year has meant.

What began as an idea became a community.

Together, we built spaces for students to explore the many possibilities within nursing, connect with leaders and one another, ask bigger questions about their careers, and ultimately feel empowered to build their own paths.

To our outgoing inaugural E-Board: thank you. Thank you for your leadership, creativity, collaboration, care, and the countless hours you gave to building CNPCC from the ground up. What you created will continue beyond your time at Columbia, and we wish each of you nothing but success as you step into the next chapters of your own pathways. 🩺✨

We also celebrate CNPCC’s founders, whose shared vision sparked what this organization would become, and our Founding Faculty Advisor, @drstephenferraranp Dr. Stephen Ferrara, whose guidance, encouragement, and belief in that vision helped bring it to life. Thank you for helping lay the foundation for a community we hope will continue to grow for years to come. 💙

And now, we are incredibly excited to say hello to our incoming Executive Board! 🎉

We’re honored to pass CNPCC into your hands and excited to see the ideas, energy, and vision you will bring to this community. Make it your own. Keep asking what’s possible. And continue creating opportunities for the students coming behind you.

The faces may change, but the mission continues. 💙

Here’s to new leadership, new possibilities, and a community that carries forward through every transition.

From the inaugural board to the next: the path is yours now. Build it. ✨

What if your nursing degree is only the beginning? 🩺💡✨
At the Pathways Nursing Summit, we had the honor of welcoming Columbia University alumnus and Inspiren founder Michael Wang back to @columbianursing to deliver our keynote address.
And his message to our students was clear: your degree does not confine you to one lane, it can become the foundation for creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and possibilities you may not have imagined yet.
Michael took us back to his humble beginnings and candidly walked students through his journey, from some of his earliest ideas and prototypes to building Inspiren, an AI-powered senior living technology company that brings together hardware, software, real-time data, and clinical expertise to help care teams improve resident safety, prevent falls, strengthen care planning, and deliver more connected care.
But he didn’t just show us what Inspiren has become.
He showed us where it started.
The early ideas. The challenges. The moments when the vision was still just that; a vision. And the perseverance required to continue building when the path forward wasn’t always clear.
Today, Inspiren is helping reshape what’s possible in senior living, but Michael reminded us that getting there was a journey, one that required him to keep learning, creating, problem-solving, and moving forward through challenges.
For every student in the room wondering, “What can I actually do with this degree?”, his journey offered one powerful answer:
More than you think.
Your nursing education can take you to the bedside.
It can take you into leadership.
It can take you into technology.
It can take you into entrepreneurship and innovation.
It can even lead you to create a lane that doesn’t exist yet.
Thank you, Michael, for returning to Columbia and giving our students an honest look at what it takes to turn an idea into impact and for reminding all of us to think bigger about where our nursing journeys can lead. 💙
Your degree is the foundation. Where you take it is yours to discover.
Build your path. Explore what’s possible. ✨

What DON’T they tell you about nursing school? 👀🩺

Getting through nursing school is one thing. **Building the career you want after it is another.**

At the **Pathways Nursing Summit**, Columbia DNP students **Jonathon Kitchens and Kash Calderon** got into the *nitty gritty* during our “What They Don’t Tell You About Nursing School” workshop.

From navigating the realities of nursing school to professional development, career planning, and the work that happens **outside of the classroom**, students had an opportunity to have an open and honest conversation about what it really takes to begin establishing yourself as a nursing professional.

One of the biggest takeaways?

**Your degree gives you the foundation, but YOU still have to build the career.**

That can mean seeking mentorship. Building relationships. Getting involved. Asking questions. Exploring different areas of nursing. Developing your professional identity. And being intentional about the opportunities you pursue before and after graduation.

Through their own experiences and two very different nursing journeys, Jonathon and Kash reminded students that there is no single timeline and no single “right” way to build a career in nursing.

Nursing school teaches you how to become a nurse.

**But your path? That’s something you build. 💙✨**

Thank you, @jonthecolumbianp and @mursekash, for keeping it real and pouring into the nurses coming behind you.

Your network isn’t just who you know, it’s how you build and nurture relationships along the way. 🤝🏾✨

At the **Pathways Nursing Summit**, students had the opportunity to learn from **Nurse Noel**, a nurse of more than **28 years** and media and health correspondent, during our Own Your Path: Networking Strategies, session.

Through personal stories from her own journey, Nurse Noel reminded students that meaningful networking isn’t about collecting contacts or simply asking, “What can you do for me?”

It’s about showing up authentically, Building genuine relationships, Staying connected, And recognizing the value you can bring to others, too.

Throughout her career, relationships have opened doors, created unexpected opportunities, and helped shape a nursing journey that extends far beyond one traditional path and she challenged our students to begin building those relationships **NOW.**

Because sometimes, the person sitting beside you in nursing school, the nurse you meet at an event, or the connection you choose to follow up with today may become part of your journey years from now. 💙

Build the relationship. Nurture the connection. Own your path. ✨

And an extra special thank you to Nurse Noel for choosing to spend part of her birthday weekend pouring into the next generation of nurses. We are so grateful you shared your time, stories, and 28+ years of wisdom with us. 💐🎂

What does it take to be at your BEST upon graduating from nursing school? 🩺✨

How do you build a resume that stands out? What are recruiters actually looking for? How do you walk into an interview prepared to communicate your value as a new nurse?

At the **Pathways Nursing Summit**, 40+ students spent their Friday evening getting answers to those questions—and taking an intentional step toward what comes next.

Our **Resume & Interviewing Workshop**, led by **Barbara Catalano of Columbia University Employment Services** alongside **Prime Staffing**, gave students the opportunity to hear directly from professionals who understand the hiring process and what it takes to successfully transition into the nursing workforce.

Because earning the degree is an incredible accomplishment, but preparing for what comes after graduation matters, too.

On the last day of school, several students chose to show up, listen, ask questions, and invest in themselves and their futures.

That is what it means to take the lead on your path. 💙

Build your path. Prepare for the opportunity. Own what comes next.*✨

✨ 100+ attendees. A Friday night. The LAST day of school. And a room full of nursing students ready to build their own path.

The inaugural **Pathways Nursing Summit** was everything we hoped for and more. 🩺✨

Over 100 students, nurses, leaders, innovators, organizations, and community members came together to connect, learn, explore what’s possible in nursing, and take intentional steps toward building careers that are uniquely their own.

To every person who chose to spend their Friday evening with us, THANK YOU 🙏🏾 . Thank you for showing up for yourself, for this community, and for the future of nursing.

This Summit was built around one belief: **there is no single path in nursing.**

Your INTERESTS matter.
Your EXPERIENCES matter.
Your VISION matters.
And YOU have the power to build a career that reflects all three.

Here’s to building our own paths and opening doors for the nurses coming behind us. 💙

🎥 Enjoy this brief glimpse into an incredible day, there’s so much more to come! We’ll be sharing more photos, moments, and highlights from the Summit soon.

If you joined us, we want to hear from you! 👇🏾 What was your favorite part of the Pathways Nursing Summit? Drop it in the comments!
