We’re continuing our We Were Here project as part of this year’s production of Come From Away in Gander: a pre-show storytelling experience featuring real voices and stories from our community.

Last year, dozens of local residents shared their personal experiences from those unforgettable days in September 2001, welcoming audiences with warmth, humour, honesty, and humanity.

And we’re still looking for more stories.

If you were here and have a short story to tell, a moment of kindness, connection, humour, or something unexpected that has stayed with you, we’d love to hear it.

HOW TO SUBMIT:
Send us a brief recount of your experience (under 400 words) to info@comefromawaygander.ca.

We’ll review every submission and reach out to those selected to schedule a performance. We hope to include as many voices from our community as we can. by @comefromawaygander

It’s been a week since I saw Come From Away in Gander and it’s taken me this long to even begin putting this experience into words… and I still don’t think I’ve done it justice.

Getting to see one of my favorite musicals in the place where it happened, surrounded by the people whose kindness and generosity inspired the story is something I’ll never be able to fully explain, but it’s a feeling I will hold near me forever.

If you ever get the chance to make the trip to @comefromawaygander do it. Every theatre kid should experience it, but tbh also just every human. It’s a tribute to the very best of humanity, and let’s be real… we could all use that reminder right now.

So thank you Gander, for welcoming me with open arms. Thank you @mrubinoff for inviting me. I will be talking about this trip forever sorry not sorry. 😘🐟🇨🇦
