Thank you Uncle Gilbert for this moving Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony for today’s Tinnie Army Commemorative Mural Special Opening. Today’s event and the new mural honours the courageous efforts of the Tinnie Army during the 2022 disaster. Thanks to @the_back_alley_gallery @summerlandbank @hotelmetropolelismore and one and all who have created this mural here in Larkin Lane, in the heart of Lismore. Over the past twelve months, The Back Alley Gallery, in partnership with Summerland Bank and The Hotel Metropole, has been developing and facilitating this large-scale mural. The opening event is on now, including: 👉Family-friendly games and activities provided by Summerland Bank. 👉Support services available from Lismore City Council’s Recovery Team. 👉Add your message to the wall to show your thanks and appreciation. We hope you will come along and be a part of this meaningful commemoration to celebrate the courageous efforts of our community. It has been wonderful watching the progress of this mural as it comes to life. Congratulations to one and all creating CONVERGE, Lismore’s Creative Enterprise Development Program, today officially launched by Mayor Steve Krieg in the Lismore CBD this morning 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 This innovative inner-city artist-in-residence program is designed to provide a collaborative space for local artists to develop and showcase their work. CONVERGE is revitalising 123 Woodlark Street, once a vacant building, bringing new life to the area. Eleven talented local artists have been selected to participate, each bringing their unique artistic vision to our city. Every week, new businesses are opening in the CBD and with CONVERGE, the area will be even more colourful and bustling. The iconic Lismore Lantern Parade will light up the CBD this Saturday, 22 June ✨ Join us in Lismore for this magical evening of light, costumes, creativity and community spirit! The @lismore_lantern_parade festivities will kick off at 12 noon and offer a range of activities for everyone to enjoy: 👉 Enchanted Windows - Lismore businesses decorate their windows with lanterns, lights, projections and props. 👉 Market Delight – 12pm-9pm - A fabulous array of delicious regional food, arts and crafts and pop-up shops from local CBD businesses. 👉 Freedom of Entry Parade – 1.30pm – 2.30pm - Watch the 41st Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment, parade through Lismore CBD. 👉 Kidsfest – 12pm-4.30pm - Keep the little ones entertained with a dedicated area filled with exciting activities and games. 👉 Memories - 6 June - 6 July - Visit the Lismore Pop-up Museum to see a collection of Lantern Parade memorabilia and audio-visual displays. 👉 Heartbeats Stage – 12pm-9pm – Visit Carrington Street for music and performances sponsored by Southern Cross University and Magenta Community Services.
