Aquí las compañeras se graduadas! Se formaron para defender y defendernos del acoso y por construir mas espacios para la justicia de genero! Queremos construir una red donde podamos aprender, sanar, apoyarnos mutuamente y organizarnos para crear entornos de trabajo más seguros y sin acoso. La red no es solo un grupo de apoyo, es una comunidad comprometida con el bienestar, la dignidad, la seguridad y el liderazgo de lxs trabajadorxs. Quieres saber mas? Tuvimos nuestro 4to Taller de Prevención a la violencia de genero! Hicimos un repaso de los temas que hablamos a lo largo de estos meses, como por ejemplo: el consentimiento, la comunicación asertiva, la intervención de testigxs, la estructura de reporte en el trabajo, el apoyo a sobrevivientes, el patriarcado, la sanación, el cuidado y la acción colectiva.
Nuestra conclusión: Estamos desaprendiendo hábitos y entendimientos del pasado, NO estamos solas! Al estar juntas, aprendemos herramientas más sanas que nos permiten conectarnos y apoyarnos y hacernos mas fuertes. Queremos crear un espacio para servir de apoyo a compañerxs que estén en una situación de acoso en el trabajo.
También estamos muy emocionadxs y orgullosas por esta red de apoyo a sobrevivientes, celebramos el liderazgo que han mostrado y desarrollado nuestras compañeras a lo largo de estos talleres!

We had our 4th workshop on the Prevention of gender-based violence! We reviewed the topics we’ve covered over the past few months, such as: consent, assertive communication, bystander intervention, reporting estructure in the workplace, support for survivors, patriarchy, healing, self-care, and collective action.
Our conclusion: we are unlearning habits and ways of thinking from the past—we are NOT alone! By coming together, we learn healthier tools that allow us to connect, support one another, and become stronger. We want to create a space to support our colleagues who find themselves in a situation of harassment at work.
We are also very excited and proud of this support network for survivors; we celebrate the leadership our participants have demonstrated and developed throughout these workshops! #comitephilly taken in Bok by @comitephilly

We cannot let another summer go by without protections for those working in dangerous - and often deadly - temperatures.

Thank you the @pa_aflcio, the Natural Resources Defense Council, PhilaPosh, @comitephilly, the PA Building Trades, United Steelworkers, Pasa Sustainable Agriculture, @conservationvoterspa, and the Blue-Green Alliance for speaking in support of Workplace Heat Protections this week.

I am proud to cosponsor this bill with Rep. Jim Haddock and grateful to our colleagues in the Senate for their bipartisan work on the companion legislation. by @comitephilly

"...No matter how much water I drank, it didn’t help; the heat was suffocating. The fryer was right next to the grill, which made it even worse. I worked 8 hours every day. The only option I had was to go down to the basement to get potatoes or things they asked me to fetch from the freezer to cool off; this gave me a break from the heat.

House Bill 1580, with its specific guidelines for acceptable heat exposure, will serve as a protective measure to prevent workers from enduring dehumanizing working conditions like this. It will prevent long-term health impacts or heat illness.
This bill will impose fines and protect those who complain, this will be the only way to bring better working conditions in our restaurants.
The time for Pennsylvania to protect its workers is NOW.
HEAT shouldn't cost a life!!"

"...Por más de que tomaba agua eso no ayudaba, el calor era agobiante. La freidora estaba al lado de la grila y eso lo hacía peor. Trabajaba por 8 horas todos los dias. La única alternativa que tenia era bajar al sótano por papas o cosas que me pedían del freezer para refrescarme, eso me daba un descanso.

La ley 1580, con sus medidas específicas de exposición al calor aceptable será una herramienta de protección para no sufrir condiciones laborales deshumanizantes como esta y evitará problemas de salud a largo plazo o enfermedades relacionadas con el calor."

Esta ley impone multas y protege a quienes se quejan, esta será la única manera de que las condiciones laborales cambien en nuestros restaurantes.

El momento para Pennsylvania de proteger a sus trabajadores, es AHORA. El calor no debe costarnos la vida!

Thanks to dedicated people like you, we have visited around 350 restaurants in our city! Now, most of these establishments have a Safety Plan template to fill out with their staff, differences between private and public areas, judicial vs administrative warrants, and KYR information for immigrant and non immigrant community members! Let's prevent the attacks in our communities as much as we can!
