COMMACAST 80: Julia SC

Welcoming to the Comma family a quickly rising name within the London circuit going by the name of Julia SC.

Midlands-raised, SE-London-based Julia SC's taste for melodically tripped out euphoric dance music was shaped in Leeds when serving as an Editor for the (now defunct) Flux blog - the much loved House and Techno event, and label. Now making a rapidly growing presence for herself within the London trance and prog scene, Julia has graced us with a delicately crafted mix that paints a sunkissed hug in the form of vintage deeply dug electro, breakbeat, trance and prog. What's so distinctive about this mix is how much it showcases an individual sound for this absolute talent of a selector and how we are held in a space of complete escapism from the first track to the last.

Thank you Julia for providing us with this hour of tripped-out bliss!

Landing in for a much welcomed instalment to the CommaCast Series, L Daze (she/her) @l_daze_, brings the psychedelic goodness for episode 78.

Starting her journey behind the booth in Birmingham via collective @selextorhood, now based in London, L Daze has been shelling out masterful recent sets for prestigious names such as @goddezztemple, @aquatic.formations, @whomp.party, @wetdreamzwetdreamz and @rhythmsectionhq. Drawing inspiration from the 90's / early 00's trance and prog era, this talented selector combines old-school hypnotic sounds with the paced up state of modern dance floors. This hour long mix for us represents just a taste of the sheer class L Daze has when it comes to crafting absorbing story telling through tripped out grooves and mind melting sonic atmospheres. Superb stuff!

Thank you L Daze for sharing this beaut mix with us 🙏 by @commatraxxlabel

CommaCast 075: Primitive Needs
@primitive_needs

Taking things a little bit back to our routes as a label, talented Aussie duo have provided a sublime selection of old-school flavoured wiggy techy tribal-esque grooves for their addition to the mix series and we bloody loves it!

The 'Primitive Needs' name is one that is quickly making an impact within the underground circuit, with celebrated releases on labels such as @wexrecords, @craigieknowes, @r.a.n.d.muzik and more. These lads are definitely worth getting know, a distinctively techy take towards the current proggy sound and a top-of-the-craft ability to steadily develop mixes into patiently more driving states of exquisite drive and groove. Proper talents!

Cheers lads for the absolute belter of a mix <3

Episode 73 of the CommaCast Series comes from remarkably talented London based selector Meg Paine.

Keeping herself busy with an already impressive portfolio of activities within the music scene, spending this year working closely with much loved Secretsundaze, residencies with Balamii and Spiritland, as well as bracing the decks of the cities insitutional party spots such as Fabric, Lion & Lamb and The Cause. Meg Paine's mix for us demonstrates a masterful skill to develop a set with fluidity, seemlessly evolving party tune energy whilst maintaining an atmosphere of old school warehouse bliss. We're blessed to have this mix on the series and hope you all love it as much as we do!
