🌐 Résidences numériques | 𝗟𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 : 𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗼é𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗹’𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Dans cette résidence numérique en collaboration avec Art Volte, 𝗞𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿-𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 propose une réflexion sur le rôle social de la critique d’art et l’importance de la dimension archivistique de l’écriture : « À Montréal, où le passé des artistes des communautés haïtienne, caribéenne et noire reste fragmenté et sous-documenté, réfléchir et écrire sur l’art me ramène toujours dans leur direction. Mon intérêt pour la récupération, la conservation et la diffusion des récits en marge m’a amenée à considérer la critique d’art autrement. Pour qui écrivons-nous, et dans quel but ? Mon écriture est conditionnée par cette question et me pousse à m’interroger sur la rareté des voix critiques noires qui écrivent sur l’art, ainsi que la production limitée de textes critiques consacrés aux pratiques des artistes noir·es. »

🌐 Digital residencies | 𝗔 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲: 𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

In this digital residency in collaboration with Art Volt, 𝗞𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿-𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 proposes a reflection on the social role of art criticism and the importance of the archival dimension of writing: “In Montréal, where the past of artists from Haitian, Caribbean, and Black communities remains fragmented and under-documented, thinking and writing about art always takes me in their direction. My interest in the recovery, conservation, and dissemination of narratives from the margins has led me to consider art criticism in other ways. For whom do we write and to what end? My writing is conditioned by this question and leads me to examine the rarity of critical Black voices who write about art, as well as the limited production of critical texts dedicated to the art practices of Black artists.”
