My mum died this week. I’m still coming to terms with how quickly things happened. And there is something specific and profound about the bond between an only child and a single mom. We spoke everyday. So silence now is an echo of loss. But there are many memories to lean into. As we’ve looked through old photos, I found this gem that encapsulates things perfectly. Me with my first daughter, my mother with two orphaned raccoons she was keeping alive until they could fend for themselves. There were many moments like this over many years. I am grateful for them all. by @commoncbc

Moving on from Tel Aviv after a week of war coverage. The sunset stands in contrast to the widespread violence across the region — with no sign of how it will end. taken in Tel-Aviv, Israel by @commoncbc

Ever wonder why we have uppercase and lowercase letters? It’s because those operating the printing press kept the big letters in a case above the little letters! by @commoncbc
