We’re still processing the magic of the Obama Presidential Center opening, and it has us feeling incredibly nostalgic. 🥹❤️
It takes us right back to this trip to DC in 2016, where our mentees got the surprise of a lifetime: a meeting with the President and First Lady. We had the honor of attending a special community preview of the Obama Presidential Center on June 7, followed by today’s grand opening celebration. Congratulations to President Obama on this incredible milestone—the space is truly remarkable and promises to be a powerful hub for community and inspiration.

The grand opening event highlighted powerful performances by our founder, Common, and former Fine Arts instructor Andre Daniels (Guitar Over Guns), alongside a stunning mural created by alumni parent and former Fine Arts instructor Dorian Sylvain. We are also proud to share that our co-founder, Dr. Mahalia Hines, is memorialized on-site as one of the founding board members—making it an unforgettable experience rooted in art, community, and legacy. taken in Obama presidential center by @commongroundfnd

Day 4 of 4: The grand finale! 🎬 Today we hit Ohio to visit the legendary neighbors across the street from each other: Central State University and Wilberforce University! 🏛️✨ 7 HBCUs and 4 states later, we’re wrapping up this epic trip hearing directly from our incredible mentees. by @commongroundfnd

Day 3 in Kentucky was one we will never forget! 🌟 Our mentees toured Simmons College of KY and Kentucky State University. We are incredibly proud to share that one of our amazing mentees received an on-site acceptance to KSU, and two of our mentees were awarded FULL RIDES to Simmons College! 🎓🙏
We ended a life-changing day celebrating at Full Throttle Adrenaline Park and slowing down for a great dinner at Chili’s. Thank you to everyone supporting these brilliant minds on this journey! by @commongroundfnd

Nashville hit different for Day 2! 🎸🔥 We took our mentees to NMAAM to soak in the music history, then toured TSU and Fisk University.

Big shoutout to the D&B alumnus and Fisk student-athlete Elijah who spoke with the group and dropped some serious gems. His advice left our mentees feeling so inspired! 🙌🎓 taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @commongroundfnd
