Hello hello.

We’re so excited to share that Eve Wright will be one of the local filmmakers we're collaborating with for our next screening on Thursday, October 29th.

Meet Eve:

Eve Wright is a Chicago-based writer, director, producer, and comedian whose work explores vulnerable, timely stories through a surreal and absurdist lens.

She has written more than seven screenplays, earning recognition from the Page International Screenwriting Competition, Austin Film Festival, and International Screenwriters’ Association.

Her short film The Scorekeeper premiered at Chicago's historic Music Box Theatre and has screened at festivals including XL Fest, Detroit Black Film Festival, and Black Harvest Film Festival.

Eve is also the founder of Original Sin Productions, through which she produced her short film No Entry. She is currently in post-production on Buy You, The World, a 16mm proof-of-concept short filmed last month.

At the end of the month, we'll be screening The Scorekeeper:

On the eve of a first date, a young woman is stalked by a supernatural, AV cart-hauling interloper intent on forcing her to relive a traumatic past.

We'd love for you to join us in celebrating Eve and experiencing her work with us. 💚

More details on our other filmmakers coming soon. #ChicagoFilmmakers #IndependentFilm #ShortFilm by @commonthreadschi

Hello friends!

Next week we have our 6th screening. This time we’re showing Fresh Kill by Shu Lea Cheang. Released in 1994, this cyberpunk eco-thriller was truly ahead of its time. Bold, expressive, and uncompromising, it’s a wild ride all the way through.

Mixing environmental activism, media satire, and early-internet chaos, Shu Lea Cheang entered the game as a true visionary. We’re excited to share a space with you again and connect over this debut film.

RSVP with the link in our bio and we’ll see you soon💚 by @commonthreadschi

Recap of the drag show before our screening of Paris is Burning in June. One thing bout Common Threads, we have a lovely crowd. A night that truly felt like a celebration of who we all are and how we’ve created space for one another to be. Thank you for being a part of this little community and making it so very special.

Summer has arrived and we have a very special screening to help you to celebrate pride month⭐️ we are watching the award winning documentary, Paris is Burning. In a time where things feel uncertain especially as marginalized people—this film is a reminder that queer people are not defined by trauma or the vision of what is normal. Instead the queens of the 80’s show what it’s like to speak and live without requiring acceptance from a world that often forgets them. Don’t miss out. Pop out on June 25th with a camp outfit and don’t forget to RSVP in the bio for reminders. ⭐️

Supported by the Field Foundation of Illinois, this movie night is part of Ground Rules: Experimental Station’s community series that brings people together to foster understanding, meaningful dialogue, and stronger connections across differences.
