It’s me, 👋, I’m the baker, it’s ME!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Figured we were long overdue for an introduction for my new followers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m Tiffany! The owner, baker, cake artist, and creative genius behind Commonwealth Cake Company. I actually wear all of the hats since it’s a one woman operation. @jenfariello has a way of making me smile beautifully when I’m overthinking things! 😊

Swipe to see my little helper- he’s put in his notice and officially starts school next month. 🥹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love tacos, Hallmark movies, great wine, dinner dates with my hubby, and spending time with my four kids. I also love creating wonderful cake experiences that my couples and their guests will fondly remember. I enjoy the artistic side of designing and the creative side of flavor development…all the things that make your cake special.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few things I’ll probably never do…
1. Open a storefront- I like being small. I rather enjoy having a personal connection with every couple I create something for.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Skydive- I’m not that adventurous. My husband will tell you that I’m a risk vs reward overthinker.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Audition for a tv show- I like staying behind the scenes. I don’t need to be famous lol. I just want to live life to the fullest without a spotlight.

One of the most valuable things we can do as artists is give ourselves permission to explore beyond what we already know how to make.

Jasmine Rae’s Earthly Textures virtual workshop is a four-session opportunity to do just that.

This isn’t simply about learning another cake technique. It’s an invitation to study texture, movement, composition, and material in a way that can help you see your work differently and begin uncovering more of your own artistic voice.

Whether you’re newer to cake or have been creating for years, there is something incredibly valuable about stepping outside of your usual process and learning to approach cake with curiosity again.

If you’ve been wanting to push your creativity, experiment more freely, or unlock a new direction in your work, this is a perfect place to begin.

I’m so excited that @cakecirclecommunity has added @jasmineraecakes Earthly Textures workshop to its 2026 workshop lineup. The four-session virtual workshop takes place on each of the four Wednesdays in October, giving you the opportunity to learn, explore, and build on what you discover from one session to the next.

Registration is open now through the link in my bio.

A little Commonwealth Cake Company update. 🤍

I’ve wrapped up my September weddings, with just three October commissions left before I close the kitchen for the remainder of 2026.

Why? Because…we’re moving. 😂

Not far! Commonwealth Cake Company isn’t leaving the area. We’re moving about 20 minutes away. But somewhere between packing this house, unpacking the next one, setting up my new kitchen and getting it inspected, I decided adding winter weddings to the mix might be a questionable life choice.

So after those final three weddings, I’m giving myself the rest of the year to get settled, set up the new kitchen and prepare for what comes next.

2027 commissions are already underway, and this move doesn’t change the weddings or areas I serve. It simply gives Commonwealth Cake Company a new place to call home.

I’m finally excited about what we’re building for this next chapter. Quite literally, at the moment. 😂🤍 by @commonwealthcakeco

Three years on the Loverly List. 🤍

I’m incredibly thankful to be named one of Loverly’s Best Wedding Cake & Dessert Bakers in the US for the third year in a row.

What makes this one especially meaningful is looking at the work I’m creating now and realizing how much has changed over those three years.

I’ve become more willing to take something apart when it isn’t working. More curious about materials and form. More comfortable leaving space where I once might have added another detail. And far less interested in making something simply because I already know I can.

These cakes feel like a pretty good snapshot of that.

There are pieces here that challenged my patience, changed the way I think about cakes, pushed me toward unfamiliar shapes, and made me trust an idea before I knew exactly how it would turn out.

So yes, I’m incredibly grateful for the recognition. But I’m just as grateful that three years later, I can look at my own work and know I’m still learning and still growing, without losing sight of the standard I’ve worked so hard to build. I’m proud of this body of work. And I’m equally proud of the level of service behind it.

Thank you, @loverly, for including Commonwealth Cake Company on the 2026 Loverly List. What an honor to be here again. 🤍

I removed my favorite part of this cake design.

My original sketch for Samantha and Austin included a sculptural ruffle at the base, and I loved it.

But when Samantha reviewed the design, she wanted the cake to lean more heavily into lace.

So I went back to the sketch.

If lace was going to have a larger presence across all three tiers, the ruffle suddenly felt like another idea asking for attention. I removed it and let the lace move across the cake in smaller, irregular groupings, leaving plenty of untouched fondant between them.

For the lace, I used the @cakesbyangelamorrison “Wedding Necessities” mold, pulling individual pieces from Angela’s design and arranging them differently across each tier.

The finished cake is actually quieter than my original sketch, even though we added more lace.

And I like it better.

The ruffle wasn’t a bad idea. It was a good idea for a version of the cake we ultimately didn’t make. by @commonwealthcakeco

I think my work started changing when making a pretty cake stopped being enough for me.

For a long time, I was very good at making cakes I knew how to make. But there had been a few uncomfortable moments when vendors mistook my work for another cake company’s. I knew they meant it as a compliment. Instead, it made me wonder if I had spent too much time looking sideways.

This cake came during a period when I was deliberately trying things that made me uncomfortable.

I learned this collar technique from @jessicasalecakedesign, and making these tested every bit of my patience. Pieces tore. I couldn’t completely control how they curved as they dried. Too much water could destroy what I’d just made. I had to stop expecting every piece to behave exactly as I’d imagined it would.

The cake actually started out completely white. Then I added blush and touches of gold.

I hated the blush at first.

I almost changed it.

But once the collars went on, something shifted. The blush wasn’t standing there asking me to like it anymore. It was disappearing and reappearing between all those layers of white, and suddenly I understood why I wanted it there.

I didn’t know it at the time, but this cake was teaching me something I needed to learn.

I didn’t need more control. I needed more curiosity.

Some of the work I’m most proud of now can probably be traced back to the moments I stopped asking whether I could make something perfectly and started wondering what might happen if I couldn’t.

How do you turn a painting into a cake without painting the painting on the cake?

That was the question I kept returning to when creating this piece for Garden Reverie, an editorial imagined by @enchantedgardenva as an ode to Monet’s Water Lilies.

I didn’t want to recreate the artwork literally. I wanted to understand what made it feel the way it did.

So much of the cake remained white, allowing tier shapes, texture, and delicate sugar work to create movement without competing with the garden surrounding it. Peach and blue appear more quietly near the base, creating a transition between the cake and the abundance of color below.

The goal was never to make a cake that looked like a Monet. It was to understand what the painting made me feel, and find a way to express that in sugar.

You don’t have to copy something beautiful to let it influence what you create.

The more I create, the more I understand my own design language.

I continually find myself returning to white. Not because I want the work to feel simple, but because removing color asks every other element to do more.

Texture becomes more visible. Layers create depth. Negative space becomes part of the composition. Light and shadow reveal details differently depending on where you stand.

For this piece, I stepped outside my natural preference for traditional round tiers and introduced a square base. Its architectural structure gave the softer draping and organic sugar flowers something to push against, creating contrast without introducing more color.

I’m learning that creative growth doesn’t always mean becoming someone different. Sometimes it means understanding more clearly what makes your work yours.

Restraint doesn’t mean less to look at. Sometimes it simply invites you to look closer. by @commonwealthcakeco

A wedding cake doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

When I ask your planner for the full design deck, I’m not simply looking for inspiration. I’m learning how your celebration is being designed so I can thoughtfully contribute to it.

I want to know which flowers your florist has selected so my sugar work feels intentional. I want to see the linens, tabletop and place settings so the cake stand and serving pieces belong in the space. I study the floor plan because where the cake is placed affects how it should be designed and viewed. And I need the timeline because even the most beautiful cake requires the right plan for delivery and installation.

These details aren’t separate from the cake. They inform it.

I don’t see my role as simply making something beautiful and delivering it to the venue. I see myself as a creative partner, working alongside your planner and vendor team to create a piece that feels considered within the larger story of your celebration.

Because your cake shouldn’t simply arrive at your wedding.

It should belong there.
