Did you know that Lilacs belong to the genus Syringa, a member of the olive family?! Lilacs were brought to Virginia by European colonists in the 18th century, likely imported from England. They became popular in Virginia gardens, with notable figures growing a large collection in the 1700s of various Lilac species. 🪻✨

Winter Solstice is the beginning of the season of depth, quietude, and turning inward. Each year I appreciate this slow season of winter, and all of its mysteries and gifts more and more.

I love the rituals of winter. It’s slower cadence. The way it beckons us to stay in more and be still.

One of my favorite winter rituals is to light a Clementine + Clove candle and incense cone from @commonwealthprovisions and cozy up with a good book. What are your favorite winter rituals and holiday reads?
