WALKOUT AND MARCH!!
April. 26th marks the 202nd day of the genocidal campaign perpetrated by the Israeli occupation, the deliberate starvation of 2 million people and the targeting of health care workers, journalists, students, children and civilians in Gaza, we are sick and tired of watching our tax dollars fund all this horror. We are sick of our universities and institutions complicity with a decades long apartheid regime.

In the past 2 weeks we have seen the bravery of our fellow students, standing up all across the nation to say enough is enough, we demand a ceasefire and an end to the Israeli occupation. We invite you to join your fellow students of MSJP, MSO, YDSA, PSA, and COMO Aid for Palestine in a walkout & march through campus in solidarity with the people of Gaza and the peaceful student protests that have been met with violence and force. Invite your executive board, members, friends, family and anyone who might be interested.

We will meet at Lowery Mall at 11am Monday, April. 29th. by @comoaidforpalestine

We stand in solidarity with Columbia University students and all Pro-Palestine activists on college campuses who are currently being arrested, suspended, or expelled for peacefully protesting for their college’s divestment from companies funding the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. As students, we must recognize the hypocrisy of these academic institutions, who state their regards for diversity, equity, and inclusivity while simultaneously perpetuating the suppression of their own students and Palestinians in Gaza. The rich history of student activism that underlies these protests and the resilience currently shown by demonstrators illustrates that the people will not stop until the apartheid ends and Palestine is free.

The fight against the Israeli occupation and ongoing genocide of Palestine is inextricably tied to fighting the structures of anti-Blackness, policing, and inadequate mental healthcare in the U.S.. As we know, thousands of this country’s police officers, sheriffs, and border patrol agents have been trained by Israeli military and police forces, which has not only contributed to the increased militarization of the police but has also disproportionately hurt communities of color around the world. This connection is not made to dilute or cloud either issue but to have us recognize the ways in which our struggles for liberation are interconnected.

What Marquis deserved was care, support, and compassion in a moment of crisis, and was instead met with blatant negligence, cruelty, and violence by COMO police officers. As a community, we must stand in solidarity against all forms of oppression and injustice. Please donate to his sister’s GoFundMe, which will be used to pay for lawyer and private investigator fees. Rest in Power Marquis Rivera.

Funds raised were used to purchase:
* Medical aid boxes
* Medical equipment
* Food boxes
* Blankets

Three separate packing days were carried out for 2 separate aid convoys. Although convoys were loaded onto the trucks, due to security risks at the Rafah-Gaza border, aid was suspended for most convoys. Recently we were updated that the convoys our aid is on will hopefully be released in about a week. by @comoaidforpalestine

Within just 3 weeks, our community raised $33,062 for humanitarian aid in Gaza. In mid-December, local Humanitarian Aid Worker Rasha Abousalem traveled to the Rafah Crossing and used these funds to buy pertinent medical supplies, equipment, and sanitary products. For all who donated or supported us in any way, YOU made an impact.

Our community has raised $10,147 for humanitarian aid in Gaza, surpassing our goal of $10,000. In order for the money to transfer to the humanitarian aid worker in time, we will be closing the fundraiser in 10 days. Once they leave for Egypt, we will post updates on the supplies being bought with the money.

In the meantime, please sign the petition described in our post at bit.ly/midMOpetition. It calls for a permanent ceasefire, condemnation an accountability under international law, unrestricted access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, and an end to the decades-long occupation of Palestine, along with other actions.

To help further our cause, please

The 4-day pause in fighting starts tomorrow, Nov. 24. We cannot interpret this as an end to the fighting, however, and must instead boycott Black Friday.

Rather than participating in Black Friday, spend your time doing the following:
🍉 call your reps demanding for a ceasefire
🍉 attend tomorrow’s demonstration, details in the post
🍉 donate the money you were going to spend on Black Friday to our cause (bit.ly/COMOAID4GAZA) by @comoaidforpalestine
