Not every application gets approved.
Not every home is the right fit.

And we want to explain why.

At Compassion Kind, these aren’t just dogs to us.
They are lives we have fought for.
They are beings we have pulled from suffering, from neglect, from the edge of death.

And once they are safe, our responsibility doesn’t end there.
It begins there.

We have seen what happens when placements aren’t right.

We’ve seen dogs dumped.
We’ve seen dogs escape and get hit by cars.
We’ve seen them returned after breakups.
We’ve seen them shut down in environments that don’t meet their needs.
We’ve seen them discarded when a new baby comes.
We’ve seen families walk away when medical care becomes too much.

We’ve even gotten the calls no rescue ever wants to receive.

So when we review applications, we are not judging you.
We are protecting them.

Every decision we make is rooted in one question:
Will this dog be safe, loved, and cared for for the rest of their life?

Because when we place a dog, we are entrusting you with our family member.

For the next 10, 15, sometimes 20 years.

That is not a small decision.
And it’s not one we take lightly.

So if your application isn’t selected, or you don’t get the dog you had your heart set on, please know this:

It is never personal.
It is always about what is best for the dog.

And when the right match happens, it changes everything.

For them.

BALOO STILL NEEDS A FOSTER IN FLORIDA BY 11AM MAY 1

We have used our last extension and he has nowhere to go. This is urgent.

If you have no other dogs, a fenced yard, and no cats or kids, please step up for Baloo. He needs an experienced, adult-only home where he can feel safe and settle.

🚨 TAMPA BAY FOSTER NEEDED FOR PENNI 🩷

Penni was surrendered to us last weekend due to reported behavioral concerns, but since entering her temporary foster home, she has been nothing but the sweetest little girl. 💕

She has been wonderful with people and other dogs, and one of her cutest quirks is her adorable little army crawl and big stretch every time she heads outside. She’s a mellow, easygoing pup who settles in nicely and would love a safe place to call home while she waits for her forever family.

Our sweet girl Penni is now safe in a temp foster, but she still needs a regular foster!

After a few days assessment- we have learned that she is very calm, quiet, snuggly, and very well mannered. She loves doing yoga when she first goes outside and is dog approved!

How is Maple STILL waiting for her forever home? 🥺💔

Maple has been in our care for nearly four months. She’s now almost 6 months old, has attended THREE adoption events, has had interest along the way… and somehow, no one has fully come through for her.

And honestly? We don’t understand it.

This little girl is an absolute GEM. ❤️

Maple is under 20 pounds, fully vetted, easygoing, affectionate, and truly one of those dogs who just fits in wherever she goes. She loves dogs. She loves cats. She’s wonderful with people and would be great with kids. She has welcomed every foster animal she’s met and has been the sweetest, most patient companion to her disabled sister.

She could thrive in an apartment with someone committed to walks and adventures, or in a home with a fenced yard. She doesn’t need anything complicated, she just needs someone to finally choose her.

Maple’s life didn’t start out easy. She was picked up as a stray in Bakersfield, California, and eventually found herself facing euthanasia before we were able to pull her and her sister, Roo, to safety.

We saved her life. Now we need your help finding the family she was saved for. 🥹

🐶 TEMP FOSTER NEEDED THIS SATURDAY – Sailor & Valor! 🐶

Sailor and Valor are looking for a temporary foster from this Saturday through the following Sunday (8 days) while their current foster is out of town. Even better, if you fall in love, they’re also available for adoption and would be wonderful foster-to-adopt candidates!

These adorable pups are 3–4 months old and have everything you could want in a puppy. They are:

How has this sweet boy not found his forever family yet?

Mango is a 5-month-old orange tabby with the biggest personality and an even bigger heart. He is playful, affectionate, curious, and gets along wonderfully with everyone he meets, people, cats, and just about anyone willing to give him a little love.

Mango’s story began when he was found all alone outside a high school at just 2 days old. We searched and searched for his mother, hoping she would return, but despite multiple attempts, she was never found. From that moment on, Mango has been surrounded by love, and he has grown into the happiest, sweetest little kitten.

Now all that’s missing is a family to call his own.

🚨 FOSTERS NEEDED TUESDAY! 🚨

We have four adorable kittens, approximately 8–9 weeks old, who urgently need foster homes in pairs. These little ones are too young to be separated, so we’re looking for two foster homes, each willing to take two kittens.

Compassion Kind Foundation provides all supplies and any further veterinary care, so all you need to provide is a safe, loving place for them to grow until they’re ready for their forever homes.

🐱 8–9 weeks old
🐱 Must be fostered in pairs
🐱 All supplies provided
🐱 All veterinary care covered

When I first got Luna from the kind folks at @compassionkind from @veganstreetfair encouraged by my dear friend @cesar4styles, I had no idea I could do this. Having a dog for the first time in my life as a 44 year old was hard enough but having a disabled dog? How would I do this? She wasn’t house trained. She had a hard time walking outside. And she was highly reactive around other dogs because she just wanted to play with them all. It was a lot. To say the least.

But my goodness is this little girl the sweetest, cuddliest, friendliest, most special dog I’ve ever met in my life. I knew the hard times paled in comparison to what she was offering to the world and so… I stuck it out. For her. For my kids who adored her and were the ones who asked me to foster her in the first place. And even though it wasn’t easy, it has been SOOOOO worth it.

I cried more than I expected the first few weeks, thinking… what have I done? Can I do this? And my friends brought me down to earth and told me… yes you can.

And so I did. And it was truly one of the best decisions of my life.

We are currently prepping for her having her leg amputated after many months of trying to find some sense of normalcy for her. She is going to do so well as a tripod but of course could use some help. @compassioncurator and @halloween_vegan have been so helpful through their non profit and are supporting us through this journey.
