Discus progression from Sophomore year to Senior year. It’s been a hell of a ride committing so much into this sport. I’ve learned many things about myself, the importance of mentality, discipline, and commitment. Fully dedicating weight training, sprints and 100s of hours in technique are evidence of my hard work. It’s unfortunate to let it go after so much time but this is just a glimpse of what I can do. It’s been an honour.

Shotput Progression

My shotput technique has progressed a lot more linear than discus with my technique. I had been lacking strength which is why my distances weren’t as far as my technique could’ve taken it (as seen in my junior year); at least I think so; however it has been a great season. I finished what I wanted to achieve for the end of the season and can’t wait for what other things I’ll do in the future.

Sophomore Yr: 27’11.5” - 30’11.25”
Junior Yr: 35’0” - 36’0”

8/9/26 - Money In The Bank

Had a fun time doing my first ever weightlifting competition during this weightlifting summer arc. Matched 3 PRs and now have an official competition total of 225kg at -110kg as a junior.

Snatch: 95kg✅ 100kg ✅ 102kg❌
C&J: 125kg✅ 130kg ❌ 130kg ❌
225kg Total

Gonna go back to throwing for a bit, but there might be more of this in the future…stay tuned. Might be better to actually get a technique coach as opposed to relying on my dumbass.

4/25/26 - Hammer Down Invitational

Discus: 39.14m / 128’5”🥉
Shotput: 11.83m / 38’9.8”🥈

Last meet of the year and messed up the preparation slightly as I got like 2 hours of sleep; which is why my shot average dropped by like 70cm. Kind of unfortunate to end the year sub 40m in discus but I think I had a great season nonetheless. Thank you to both Jack and Leo for stopping by to watch and shout out to all the people that took time out of their day to come out to practice, I hope we become the next most dominant club team in NIRCA. See you next semester.

4/12/26-4/13/26 - 2026 NIRCA Nationals

Discus: 39.37m / 129’2” (8th) PR
Shotput: 12.57m / 41’2.9” (10th)

Fantastic meet this year because I got to throw a huge PR in discus that was representative of what I want to work on in the future and a glimpse of where my technique is headed towards. Shot wasn’t as good because of lack of sleep but I was 1cm from making the finals. Really appreciate the energy both the Penn State throwers and Virginia Tech throwers brought to make it more competitive. Also now have my first NIRCA All American title and ready for more in the future… by @competitive_yeeting

3/28/26 - Big Blue Outdoor Opener

Discus - 35.28m / 115’9” (12th)
Shotput - 12.57 / 41’ 3” (14th)

Discus was god awful due to lack of sleep. I did hit close to 40m in a warmup and 2nd attempt but it fouled which was highly unfortunate. Also it was weird that they hosted discus at the HS and had to come back to the uni for shot. Shot was pretty good, I was able to maintain my technique pretty well although I didn’t get over the left as much as I should’ve. taken in Millikin University by @competitive_yeeting

2/28/26 - UIUC Relays

Shotput - 12.89m / 42’3.5” (4th) PR

Was hoping for 13m but got damn close so not that unhappy. Had a lot of fun throwing with these guys in club; reminds me why I started club and didn’t just give up throwing. We won the relay with a score of 27.7m; 2nd place got 22.29m

2/14/26 - DePauw Invitational

Weight - 13.42m / 44’0.5” (19th) PR
Shotput - 12.57m / 41’3” (17th) PR

First time competing and training for weight, mostly independently. Only got a month to train it so can’t say I’m disappointed. However I was hella nervous on the first 2 attempts so I only threw around 11m ish. Last one I kind of let it take me and kinda balled out to see where it would go and I regret not doing that for the first 2 throws.
Shotput I really wish I didn’t drive my left shin as high in the middle cuz I would’ve been hitting close to 13m consistently.
Next up is UIUC Club Relays.

7/27/25 - had a good insight of what to change today. Mainly in discus getting the right hip to support the discus out the back while maintaining a good sweep and early push off the left. In the middle I’m trying to hold my hip through my head as you can see in the 2nd one. Starting to catch these really deep now

4/5/25 - NIRCA Nationals

Discus: 36.29m / 119’1” (11th)
Shotput: 11.23m / 36’10.25” (18th)

I can’t really say I did well because I just didn’t feel good waking up. But kinda disappointed in discus as I was hitting 38ish in practice.

On the third discus attempt I kinda just let it rip. Kinda regret that though. taken in Virginia Commonwealth University by @competitive_yeeting
