Where Did All The Lesbians Go? started with a question that me and my friends kept coming back to.

A joke but real, we’d ask: Where DID all the lesbians go?

I think a lot of queer people have had that experience of expecting to arrive somewhere to find community, only to discover you’re searching for half baked traces of something that used to exist. That question led me to making this film.

I kept thinking about The Watermelon Woman and the idea that if the stories you’re looking for don’t exist, maybe you have to help make them. So this film sits somewhere between documentary and fiction, drawing from real conversations, memories, and people in my own community.

We shot it on 16mm with no budget and non-actors, many of them my friends 😭❤️ because I wanted it to feel lived in rather than performed.

I hope this film finds anyone who’s ever gone looking for their community. by @composition_ok
