Friendship is at the heart of the Willamettian spirit, and we love that Composition and Bergstrom Wines have a fun annual get-together tradition!

@compositionwine’s Bertrand de Villaine and @karawinelife started off in their vineyards and cellar, catching up on the latest vintage and barrel blending their single vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Then it was off to @bergstromwines for a signature wine dinner hosted by @joshbergstromwines and @bergstromcaroline, complete with Composition Pinot Noir, Bergström’s flagship Sigrid Chardonnay, and Josh’s filet mignon as the pièce de resistance. 🍷👨‍🍳

With the release of our 2024 vintage, we wanted to start off by introducing our Pinot Noir.

The vintage brings along aromatic layers of red and black fruits that intertwine with subtle spice notes of cardamom and finely integrated oak. The nose is lively and expressive and the palate brings a spice-driven complexity that leads into flavors of fresh cranberry and red berries that are supported by bright acidity and fine tannins. The texture is supple yet structured, delivering length, precision, and persistent freshness through the finish.

Like this lamb, we’ll be running to open a bottle for a special occasion or simply to enjoy life (and no, the lamb does not come with the Pinot...sorry).

Our 2024 vintage was released this Spring and we couldn’t be more excited.
The 2024 growing season in the Willamette Valley created a balanced vintage with a steady ripening and strong natural acidity. It allowed fruit to mature without excessive sugar accumulation, resulting in wines that show across the valley bright fruit, fine tannins, moderate alcohol, and excellent tension.

Defining our 2024 vintage as elegant, precise, and has a potential to age well.

Here is to Spring 2026 and all that it has brought with it.

Composition Wine’s 2023 Chardonnay is a deep golden color with a deep yet subtle nose.
The palate is intense and concentrated, while still keeping delicate notes of citrus and white flower.

The 2023 Chardonnay provides a distinctive elegance towards the end.

Composition Wine’s 2023 Pinot Noir is a deep and shiny red that has an explosive nose of strawberries and raspberries.
In addition, there is a hint of pink pepper exalts aromas and the mouth is open on a fresh energy that is carried on by a discreet acidity.
Silkiness is present, though, in its youngest stage.

With a few more years to age, the 2023 Pinot Noir will express more of its richness.

With the 2021 vintage, Composition entered a new chapter - souring from two distinct, biodynamically farmed sites. The Chardonnay hails from older, dry-farmed vines in the Eola-Amity Hills, while the Pinot comes from the historic Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, which was planted by Oregan wine pioneer Dick Erath and is on its own rootstock to this day.

Composition Wine’s 2023 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are sustainably and dry-farmed on a single-vineyard, capturing the essence of terroir-driven winemaking. Both grapes are grown with meticulous care and minimal intervention as they thrive in a unique microclimate and soil composition of their specific plot. The resulting wines feature a harmonious balance of crisp acidity and rich fruit flavors, complemented by subtle notes of oak and minerality that reflect their distinct origin.

Yesterday we met & reviewed with Composition’s wine team, Janis, a biodynamic grape grower, and a visit to the Bergstöm family winery.
