After a post by @magnusmaegtig regarding the unexpected results you can get from mixing Quinacridone Magenta and Phthalo Green, I had to try it myself. I used Schmincke Primacryl Quin Magenta and then I had two Phthalo Greens, one Blue Shade (left) and Yellow Shade (right). The value of the resulting mixture was quite low, so I added some Titanium white so it was more visible. Both results are clearly shades of blue, which is a bit surprising. by @compulsive.industries

Made a new, more compact #killteam box on my #bambulab H2D. The saying on top is “Only in Death does Duty End” and on the front “Blessed is the mind too small for doubt”. Tongue firmly in cheek. by @compulsive.industries

I thought this would be a quick Kill Team to paint. "Some flesh, some robot legs. EZ" thought my brain. It didn't see the straps, and trim and various other doodads. This is going to take a while.

I am making a point of trying different skin tones, all mixed from the Marc Masclans skin tone set from #kimera

My Sanctifiers Kill Team all done. I was trying to only paint these to a tabletop standard, but ended up pushing myself, so these took way longer than expected. First time focused on mixing and first time really trying NMM.

I used the Zorn palette: white, black, yellow ochre and red. Exactly which paints I used changed throughout the project. I used Kimera (Toulidine Red), Schmincke (Cadmium Red Hue), Golden SoFlat (Pyrole Red), Liquitex (Cadmium Red Deep). Of them, I liked working with the SoFlat the best. Bold color, and whatever medium they use is just super forgiving.

I used some fluo paints on the flames, and got tired of mixing NMM colors so I found some close matches to save me the time.

My entry in the September challenge for @gitgud_painting We had 8 hours to paint a lovely bust called "Casual" from the excellent sculptor @female_miniatures Also thank you to @minimaker_com for sponsoring this month's contests and providing prints for those who couldn't print their own. And thank you to @risingapeminis for organizing!

I did something different this month - based on a suggestion from @njm_marcofrisoni - and tried grisaille: painting in just black and white, then tinting the result. I used @ionicsmarthobbies Black & White, then tinted with @kimera_models Velvet Inks. I went back in and did the eyes with some more Ionic.

It was a fun challenge and I learned a ton about light and value from the black and white exercise. by @compulsive.industries

I'm so happy to have received a Journeyman Bronze medal for my Zombie Squig at @novaopenconvention It was my first time doing a real in-person competition. Seeing everyone's work in the cabinets was massively inspiring - and a bit intimidating, if I'm being honest. I'm already making plans for what to bring next year. I hope to be able to sculpt and paint something under @bohemond_minis 's tutelage.

Thanks to the vendors who supplied a wide variety of stuff I don't normally have access to. I could easily have come home with a trunk full of stuff and limiting myself to just this was hard.
