1 tree memorizes. 100 trees generalize. 🌲

Random Forest, explained in one reel:

1️⃣ Bootstrap sampling: every tree trains on its own random draw of rows, with replacement
2️⃣ Random features: each split only considers a random subset of features (√p for classification)
3️⃣ Vote: majority wins for classification, average for regression

Why it works: one deep tree is high-variance, so it memorizes noise. Many de-correlated trees make different mistakes, and the vote cancels them out.

Bonus: about 37% of rows are left out of each tree’s sample. That’s the out-of-bag set, a free validation score with oob_score=True.

✅ Accurate, robust, low tuning, built-in feature importance
⚠️ Less interpretable, heavier on compute, slower inference
