Baking diary 2.5.24

Ok I made a substack god help us. Last 8 months or so I've been writing in my spare time and frequently joking that I'm writing the biscuit manifesto. It's been weirdly fruitful to scribble a couple notebooks full of stream of consciousness, and some actual ideas have started to take form that feel shareable. So idk let's get on the substack train gang!

I haven't been posting bakes on here nearly as much as I used to because I've been feeling sort of bored with this schtick. So if you want to keep up with bakes and my inner monologue, hit the link. Might appeal to bakers, commies, people who need more fodder to shit talk me, etc.

First post is (sort of) about these kimchi biscuits I've been developing for a while now while working with @glutenlauryn 🥳 Expect sporadic updates, second person narration, and navel-gazing non-sequitors.

Our album Thoughts and Prayers is out now!

Listen to it on any corner of the internet you want.

Endless thanks to @wildhorizonsound who recorded and mixed and generally helped bring the sound to life in every way.

Big ups to @andrewoswaldrecording for his mastering work, cleanest .wav in the game 🙏🏽

And literally thank god for the hidden 4th member of the band @masette who did the cover art, wizarded together these masks, took these photos, does so many of our fliers and all the art for almost everything we do, we're not shit without you.

Hope something on this record hits with you, come party with us at @livefromoblivion tomorrow night 9/12 with all our homies in @dweller_rock @hurryupslowpoke and @familycash.ski

Not sure what the abberations in the top layer are, sort of looks like maldon, i assume it's either sugar that didn't dissolve enough or formed while the gel was setting. Who knows! The universe is full of mystery and whimsy.

Guava cheesecake hitting worldwide this weekend, random slab pie i'm told is for a wwe latte art slam down at idk the white house probably, biscuits (so in right now) coming to the cafe as a sunday special because they are SPECIAL, but not as special as these cinnies @leckzking rolled according to city code perfect ratio etc so proud.

Lastly a flier for my band's show next month (ty @masette flier GOAT) which we are releasing a whole ass record and playing with our whole ass crew of homies, i know a lot of you are here for the food not the music but let's join forces fuck it there are no rules people free your mind 🌈 by @comradebiscuit

Life (of pie) update-

Almost never not baking. Somehow eeked out some time to make this pie for 4th of july, @andysorchard apricot/cherry number, seasoned with a kick of vin and keylime then reduced the macerating liquid etc you get it. Caught a little on the edges but that's sort of my whole vibe you know? Was fun and will be making more for trop don't tell @milkcult

@masette took these film pictures and I liked them and am posting them ok it's not a crime.

Swipe for bts photoshoot with said pie from the lens of crack dishwasher/auteur jimi. And then a bonus of me with the GOAT 🫡 by @comradebiscuit

Enjoy some bts around the farm and stu. Fun lore- despite the drum part being fucking nuts it's just josh's live take no click track what a mf guy, I only seem to take pictures of him ripping cigs.

Same stats as the last single, a small but mighty cadre- @wildhorizonsound @andrewoswaldrecording

Updates from your least favorite emo diyer pastry making lunatic.

Berries and monkey bread. Kimchi cornbread seemed like it was enjoyed by the appropriate crowd. Will be (incessantly?) plugging the @trashcastletrashmusic show now that we are the state mandated 2 weeks out. LA public health suggests leaving your house for your friend's rock show once per calendar period. Also we have new music out, whoever heard of such a thing? Link on trashcastle page for presale yaddayaddaetcbla 🌈 by @comradebiscuit
