Well, holy shit what a trip of a weekend @bluciferfest was. I admittedly, and quite sadly, missed DIY night, but was fortunately able to catch so much of both South Broadway days, and house show day.

All weekend, I was seeing familiar faces up and down Broadway and in the Baker / Speer neighborhoods. Whether long-time friends, members of bands I’ve shared stages with, acquaintances, fans of Team, etc — there’s not really a good way I can think to describe how amazing it is to be at an entirely local music festival, and have a good chunk of the 3,000 people attending be familiar to me in some way, shape, or form.

There’s some really awesome photos and articles from folks who had press passes coming out and spreading around (one of which is a really rad Denverse article that you should read!!), but I wanted to share my little perspective and experience from the 3 days I was out there as well.

I’ve been telling all my friends that I’m a Blucifer Stan, and I dunno, maybe that sounds lame but I really feel that way. I’ve never experienced something as cool and radical as this in my life, especially in music world, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it — as a musician, as a volunteer, and as an attendee.

So much love to the folks who organized this, to the artists who played, to the venues who said yes, to the people with homes who opened them up for house show day, and I don’t even know dude — to everyone who made this thing what it was (aka everyone who was there).

compost heap was many things for me this year — notably for me this year was the funnest time I’ve ever had at the fest in all the years I’ve been going. this year was the first year I made sure I could be out there all 3 days (aka I didn’t have to schedule myself to work, and/or Team didn’t have other shows the same weekend). no wonder I had the best time at the fest the year I was actually able to be there 85% of it haha (my estimated hour tally for the weekend is around 25 hours)

this post is only a few snippets of moments from Saturday and Sunday. what I didn’t get any pictures of is my friends, because I’m bad at that apparently. so enjoy some pics of some of the bands I caught Saturday and Sunday, rafter-swinging, trans flags in the pit, and perhaps my favorite crowd activity I’ve ever experienced — mother fucking sock puppets during @hansgruberandthediehards

last night was so cool and I’m gonna ride that high for a long time. almost selling out the @bluebirdtheater alongside our friends in @iamtheowlband and @cleanerband , and of course the legends who made it all possible, released an amazing record, and asked us to play the show @dead.pioneers
