Birthday Prayer for My 2‑Year‑Old Son

Heavenly Father,
Today we celebrate the precious gift of my son, who turns two years old. Thank You for his life, his laughter, his bright eyes, and every little step he takes.

I pray You wrap him in Your constant protection—keep him safe from harm, sickness, and fear. Let Your light shine over his path, guiding him always. Fill his heart with joy, curiosity, and kindness. May he grow strong in body, sharp in mind, and gentle in spirit.

Bless his days with wonder, his nights with peaceful rest, and his future with purpose. May he know how deeply loved he is—by us, and most of all by You. Let him grow into a boy and then a man of goodness, courage, and faith.

The Favourite Friend

Mia always stuck close to Chloe. Chloe had the newest phone, designer bags, and her parents owned the biggest house in town. Mia laughed at all Chloe’s jokes, agreed with every choice she made, and called herself Chloe’s best friend—all because she wanted the gifts, the fancy outings, and the popularity that came with being by her side.

She never told Chloe when she was wrong, never shared her real opinions, and only ever spoke nicely when she wanted something. Chloe trusted her completely, and shared every secret with her.

One day, Chloe said quietly, “My family’s having money troubles. We might have to sell our house.”

Mia’s smile faded instantly. No more expensive trips, no more free things, no more being the popular girl’s sidekick. “Oh,” she said, cold and distant. “That’s too bad.”

She started making excuses to avoid her, and soon stopped talking to Chloe altogether.

A month later, Mia saw Chloe walking with another girl—someone who listened to her, cared about her feelings, and stayed even when there was nothing to gain. They were laughing happily.

Mia stood alone, empty-handed and unpopular. She had pretended for all the good things, but when the good things were gone, so was the friendship. She realised too late: she had gained nothing of value, and lost the only person who had ever truly treated her like a friend. by @comredmond
