The Bon Bon Française and the teĢ‚te de mouton hairstyle.
. . .
The gown and all the underpinnings are completely sewn by hand. The française took me over a year to finish with all the hand made fly fringe trim consuming 2/3 of that time.
. . .
I have to admit that the teĢ‚te de mouton hairstyle is growing on me. I mean, how can I not when it’s named after sheep?šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘(swipe for inspiration).

What do you think of this look of the mid 18th-century?

#georgianjanuary day 6: details.
. . .
The fly fringe trim on my Bon Bon Française is a small detail that makes the gown stand out. I made it out of silk thread in colours complementing the shot silk of the gown, and cotton yarn for chrocheting.

There is something undeniably charming about 1920s fashion. The relaxed silhouette, elegant embellishments and sense of effortless glamour make it one of my favourite periods in dress history.

As someone with a love for historical fashion, I am always delighted when contemporary designs capture the essence of the originals. These dresses and hats from @babeyond_official evokes the spirit of the era and are perfect for summer gatherings, garden parties and evenings that linger long after sunset.

Spring has sprung in Stockholm, Sweden. Summer is just around the corner, bringing with it the social season of garden parties, tennis tournaments, regattas and days at the racecourse.

As someone who loves fashion history, I appreciate it when modern reproductions successfully capture the character of the originals. This dress from @babeyond_official has a silhouette that truly evokes the 1920s, while being surprisingly comfortable to wear. It feels perfectly suited to the elegance and optimism of the season—rather like something Lady Rose might have chosen for a summer afternoon in Downton Abbey.

Another pink jacket from the late 18th-century. Not a pet-en-l’air, but pink and frilly.

I’m looking for inspiration for a new 18th-century costume. I love the Watteau pleats of the robe aĢ€ la francaise but I would love to make something new and less formal, a costume that is equally suitable for aperitivo at CaffeĢ€ Florian’s in Venice as it is for a summer picnic. Enter the Pet-en-l’air:

The Pet-en-l’air costume was a shorter version of the robe aĢ€ la francaise, or a short sack back gown, looking more like a jacket. Compared to the full-length robe aĢ€ la francaise, the pet-en-l’air was an informal wear to be worn in the home where one could be ā€un-dressedā€ (en deshabillé), and for casual outings.

POV: it’s the 1770s and your hair is taller than your social status.
. . .
The legendary pouf hairstyle reached extraordinary heights in the 1770s, especially at the court of Marie Antoinette where this fashion was popularised by the Queen and her famous hairdresser Léonard Autié, who helped turn hair into spectacle, often decorating the hairstyle with feathers, ribbons and flowers.
The pouf was achieved with pomade, powder, wire frames, cushions, and generous amounts of false hair and they could take hours to build.
. . .
My dear friend Fanny (@ribbonsandrevolutions ) has naturally curly hair and the texture is perfect for achieving the pouf. It only took me about one hour to style her hair (and it’s all natural!)🩷 What do you think of the result?
