Celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month: Connie Huang (Associate Member) is a DP/Operator based in Brooklyn, NY. @conartistdp / @conartisth⁣ ⁣ “I began my career as a PA, gradually finding my way up through the camera department. I owe so much of where I am today to the⁣ generosity, mentorship, and guidance of the many crew members and filmmakers who took the time to share their knowledge with me. I’m deeply grateful to those who invited me into the creative process, even when it extended beyond my role, whether that meant doing the zoom or operating the third axis.⁣ ⁣ One of my most meaningful memories is working alongside Rick Marroquin, one of NYC’s premier dolly grips. When I was an AC, He would walk me through the mechanics of complex crane shots and answer every question I had. We often spoke about the day we’d collaborate as operator and dolly grip, and he’d always remind me (half-jokingly) how⁣ little time I had before he retired.⁣ ⁣ Just before he did, I brought him onto a commercial I was shooting. Right before our first shot together, he leaned over the dolly and said, “Con, our first dolly move.” It was a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.⁣ ⁣ There have been so many people like Rick who have encouraged me, challenged me, and believed in me along the way. These relationships are what make this work truly meaningful. To step onto a set and be⁣ surrounded by a supportive, trusted team, that’s what makes it all worthwhile.”⁣ ⁣ Photo 1 - Dayplaying - @ryantoussieng⁣ Photo 2 - Imaginary Friends - Dir. Check out Severance episode 4, Woe’s Hollow, out now! Im so stoked for this week’s episode to come out! I frequently day played on the show and had the opportunity to operate for 3 weeks upstate in the woods with the Severence crew two winters ago. It was quite the adventure on the mountain everyday, I had a blast. It was hard, fun, and challenging work, 500mm handheld particularly comes to mind 😵‍💫😝 @jessicaleegagne @guthstuff @camsizemore thanks for having me! 🙏🏻 to all the assistants & crew who schlepped all the gear through the snow and woods. by @conartistdp
Some stills and a fun shot from 2nd/Tandem units on The Night Agent season 2. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻to the crew and 2nd unit regulars 👊🏻 I had the opportunity to DP 2nd unit and operate on the show. Yes…the word night is in the title but we all made it through! On the upside I got to shoot a lot of night exteriors as a DP, always a good challenge! Check out The Night Agent season 2 on Netflix. by @conartistdp
