This mixed-media artwork on glass explores the quiet resilience of a solitary soul suspended between isolation and hope. A lone figure sits within the confines of home, while an open window offers the promise of possibility. The kite drifting beyond the window embodies dreams, freedom, and the desire for renewal. Outside, fish symbolise confusion and uncertainty, forces that shape and challenge the pursuit of a meaningful life. Created with alcohol-based inks, a medium celebrated for its fluidity and unpredictability—the work embraces the tension between control and chance, fusing traditional artistic techniques with a contemporary visual language.

Interwoven Silences is a contemplative work, capturing a distinct moment in the day where the quiet rhythms of everyday life intertwine with the profound stillness of nature. The work reflects my desire to explore how ordinary emotions and lived experiences can find harmony within natural silence. In this piece, I have sought to create a synthesis between the traditional oriental style and contemporary themes. Drawing upon the delicate wash techniques and fine linework characteristic of oriental art, I applied these elements to a modern, unconventional medium—alcohol-based ink on perspex. The process is technically demanding, as the medium resists control, yet it allows for a sense of spontaneity and translucency reminiscent of stained glass. Through this visual language, Interwoven Silences invites the viewer into a layered dialogue between time, emotion, and silence—an intimate meditation on the shared quietude of life and landscape.
