Looks like we have cooler weather moving in over the weekend, and you know that that means - It’s almost LOOSE LEAF SEASON! 🍂

During loose leaf collection season, residents may place un-bagged leaves at the curb for collection during their assigned week.

A few things to remember about loose leaf collection season:
⌚️ Leaves must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the first day of your assigned collection week.
🪾 Leaves must be free of tree and shrub limbs or foreign objects.
👉 Keep leaves away from storm drains, mailboxes, and parked cars.
🍁Bagged leaves (in paper yard waste bags only) and labeled personal containers will still be collected weekly during regular garbage collection. by @concordncgov

We asked 3rd graders their thoughts on what we do - hear what they had to say! 🎥😂

For more than 20 years, Team Concord has visited classrooms and welcomed students to our City facilities to learn about their local government and discover what it takes to make our City one of the best places to live.

These students are our future coworkers and leaders. We understand that investing in our youth today, is investing in Concord’s tomorrow.

We’re proud of our work and we love what we do, and our 3rd Grade Civic Ed program is one of our favorite ways to share that love 🫶 by @concordncgov

Our friends at @cabcoems told us to gather our coworkers for a paper bag photoshoot. Say less. 💁‍♀️

Team Concord never passes up the chance for a good time! And speaking of a good time, join us on Friday, Oct. 30 from 3-5 p.m. in Downtown Concord for the annual Candy Crawl!

Trick-or-treat along Union Street with Team Concord and participating downtown businesses plus enjoy music, bounce houses, and balloon artist.

Think of Candy Crawl as bonus Halloween fun! This event doesn’t replace Halloween or change your traditional trick-or-treating plans for Saturday, October 31. by @concordncgov

Happy #PublicPowerWeek, Concord!

This week celebrates something we all can be proud of - safe, reliable, affordable, community-owned and operated electricity!

Public power is neighbors serving neighbors. It’s familiar faces working overhead, underground, and behind the scenes monitoring our grid to keep our City powered. The power is local, but the purpose is personal.

Please join us in thanking the hard-working men and women in our Electric Systems Department for all they do to support our community - keeping the lights on in our homes and businesses, the streets we travel, and the parks we visit, and connecting with students and bringing joy to families throughout the holiday season.

We’re proud of our team and proud to be your public power provider during this special week, and every other week of the year.

Customer service matters because our customers matter ❤️

Meet the team who goes The Extra Mile every day to answer your calls and webchats, greet you with smiling faces, and provide exceptional service when you visit City Hall. They’re the first call for residents who have billing questions, need help setting up their water or electric service, or who are just looking for more information about the many programs and services we offer. They have demanding jobs that require patience, empathy, and a heart for service.

We couldn’t ask for a better team 🫶

Thank you for all you do! by @concordncgov

This week, Team Concord broke ground on the new Concord Communications Center!

For the last 30 years, the City’s Communications Department has been housed in a small space within Fire Station 3. Since1996, our population has grown by more than 155% and the emergency call volume has more than doubled since that time. Beyond emergency calls for our City, our dedicated telecommunicators handle after-hours customer care calls from residents and dispatch water, electric, and transportation crews to respond to outages, water main breaks, downed trees and blocked roadways.

The new Concord Communications Center will give our 911 telecommunicators the space and resources they need to continue answering the call for help, no matter the emergency.

The new facility includes a larger communications room with space for additional telecommunicators, ensuring that as the population grows, the City is prepared and can continue providing the high level of emergency response residents expect and deserve. The new Center also includes a dedicated training room and emergency operations center (EOC), and spaces to support the health and well-being of our telecommunicators who work through long hours, difficult situations, and multi-day weather and emergency events.

This new building is more than just an investment in our community’s safety. It’s an investment in our team and our promise to make sure they’re supported as they work hard behind the scenes to support, protect, and take care of us. by @concordncgov
