Bratislava’s UFO: a vision of the future from the 1970s. Built between 1967 and 1972, the SNP Bridge opened on 26 August 1972. Its 84.6-metre pylon supports the iconic flying-saucer-shaped structure. An elevator runs through one pylon leg; the other houses an emergency staircase with 430 steps.

The observation deck stands 95 metres high, offering views stretching up to 100 kilometres on a clear day. More than half a century later, this architecture still looks ahead of its time.

2001 wurde die SNP-Brücke zum slowakischen Bauwerk Für die SNP-Brücke wurde ein Teil des alten Bratislava geopfert – heute ist die Brücke selbst ein schützenswerter Teil der Geschichte Bratislavas. Jahrhunderts in der Kategorie Brückenbau gewählt und seit 2018 steht sie als nationales Kulturdenkmal unter Schutz.

Die Matadorka ist eine markante Wohndominante im ehemaligen Industrieareal Matador in Bratislava-Petržalka. Der rund 85 m hohe Wohnturm mit 29 oberirdischen Geschossen wurde zwischen 2017 und 2020 errichtet und umfasst 335 Wohnungen und Apartments.
Entworfen wurde das Gebäude vom Architektenteam der VI Group. Charakteristisch sind die schlanke weiße Silhouette und die umlaufenden Balkone mit abgerundeten Ecken. Eine Besonderheit ist außerdem der begrünte Innenbereich auf dem Dach des niedrigeren Gebäudeteils mit rund 1.400 m² Grünfläche.

Mit dem Kúpeľný dom schuf Jozef Schuster eines der bedeutendsten Kurgebäude der Slowakei. Der zwischen 1969 und 1975 errichtete Bau vereint Funktionalismus und Spätmoderne. Seine klare Geometrie, die markante Tragkonstruktion und die großzügigen Glasflächen prägen bis heute das Zentrum von Bardejovské Kúpele.

Kúpeľný dom, Bardejovské Kúpele

Der Kúpeľný dom wurde nach einem Entwurf des slowakischen Architekten Jozef Schuster als Teil der Modernisierung des Kurortes in den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren errichtet. Das Gebäude ist ein hervorragendes Beispiel der Spätmoderne und des Funktionalismus. Es basiert auf einer Stahlbetonskelettkonstruktion mit markanten auskragenden Trägern, horizontalen Fensterbändern sowie einer Fassade aus Naturstein, Sichtbeton und Glas. Der Bau vereint Therapie-, Erholungs- und Aufenthaltsbereiche unter einem Dach und zählt heute zu den bedeutendsten Beispielen der slowakischen Kurarchitektur des 20. Jahrhunderts.

Der Hochschul-Hub Wien Seestadt befindet sich im Gebäudekomplex ROBIN in der Seestadt Aspern (22. Bezirk) und gilt als eines der nachhaltigsten Hochschulgebäude Europas. Er wurde speziell für Lehre, Forschung und Innovation entwickelt und bietet Platz für bis zu 750 Studierende, Lehrende und Forschende auf rund 2.500 m². Mehrere Hochschulen nutzen den Campus gemeinsam.

Errichtet nach dem 2226-Gebäudekonzept: Das Gebäude kommt ohne klassische Heizungs-, Kühl- und Klimaanlagen aus.
Die Raumtemperatur wird durch eine massive Bauweise, hervorragende Wärmedämmung, kontrollierte Lüftung sowie die Nutzung der inneren Wärmegewinne von Menschen und Geräten konstant zwischen 22 und 26 °C gehalten.

Bauzeit: nur etwa 16 Monate
Fertigstellung: Juni 2024

THE ONE – Architektur mit Wiedererkennungswert.

Mit 128 Metern Höhe und 38 Obergeschossen zählt THE ONE zu den höchsten Wohngebäuden Österreichs.

Der Bau begann 2019, die Fertigstellung erfolgte 2023. Entworfen vom Architekturbüro StudioVlayStreeruwitz, prägen die markant versetzten Balkone das Erscheinungsbild und verleihen dem Turm seine skulpturale Silhouette.

Die Errichtung kostete rund 110 Millionen Euro. Das Hochhaus umfasst 402 Wohnungen und bildet gemeinsam mit Q-Tower und Helio Tower das Ensemble THE MARKS – ein neues Stadtquartier auf dem ehemaligen Industrieareal von St. Marx mit insgesamt rund 1.200 Wohnungen.

Besonderheit: THE ONE war bei seiner Fertigstellung das höchste von gemeinnützigen Bauträgern errichtete Wohnhochhaus Österreichs – ein außergewöhnlicher Rekord für ein Projekt dieser Art.

Most SNP is one of Bratislava's most iconic engineering landmarks. Completed in 1972 after just five years of construction (1967–1972), the bridge spans the Danube with a single-pylon cable-stayed design, eliminating the need for river piers and allowing uninterrupted navigation.

Its distinctive UFO-shaped observation deck and restaurant, perched about 95 metres above the river, have become symbols of the city. Connecting the historic Old Town with Petržalka, Most SNP is not only a vital transport link but also a masterpiece of 20th-century structural engineering and one of the defining elements of Bratislava's skyline.

Centuries apart in a single frame.

The Gothic tower of the former Franciscan Church, originally built in the 15th century as part of Bratislava's medieval fortifications and later relocated to Sad Janka Kráľa, stands in perfect alignment with the UFO Tower atop the SNP Bridge, completed in 1972 as a pioneering cable-stayed bridge carrying road traffic across the Danube. Together, they tell the story of over 500 years of engineering and craftsmanship.

Standing at 168 metres, the Eurovea Tower is currently the tallest building in Slovakia. The reinforced concrete high-rise features 46 above-ground floors and forms the centrepiece of the Eurovea City development on the banks of the Danube. Its slender structural design, high-strength concrete core, and glass façade combine stability, efficiency, and panoramic views, making it a remarkable example of modern high-rise engineering in Central Europe.
