Fairytales aren’t Fair
Poem by me
Compliments of Life

Fairytales aren’t fair
And they sure aren’t free
Blood,sweat and tears
Is what mine cost me

And while everyone’s so wrapped up
With the beauty and charm
We were never taught
How to spot the alarms

We focused on the dresses
The princes and the glam
Instead of looking at the heart
And understanding “who I am “

See what they didn’t teach you
Is that fairytales aren’t fair
Because a war you must win
Before you ever arrive there

I’ll never forget the day I saw a woman online who just got out of an abusive relationship say she was taking her and her babies to a shelter and leaving. I broke down and tears and watched her post everyday as she climbed out of the hell. Slowly.

I remember thinking “ if she can do it I can too” and I did.

I left and it was a very very long process that all the planning and saving in the world couldn’t have prepared me for.

At the end of it all I ended up leaving with $80 and the clothes off our back. And ever since then we have not missed one meal, one birthday, and even though it’s not easy we are doing it.

God has surrounded us with some of the most uplifting community including my mom and aunty, my cousins, my bff @missjadesantiago and @jenniferlopez10 and @kedronhilario my brother from another mother @jessiewooten and my other mom @heidiwooten89 . You all plus more have played pivotal roles in carrying us and I owe yall the world 🙏.

Hits

I'll fight so they don't have to
I'll cry so flowers grow
I'll labor in the sun so my kids reap what I sow

I'll rise so they don't have to
and stumble over trials
I'll teach them how to see God's hand
and that trouble only last for a while

I'll take hits so they don't have to
and lay my burdens at God's feet
I'll show them how to take your L's
and how to never claim defeat

I'll go to the ends of earth so they don't have to
I'll walk miles without cease
Because in the end I want them to say
"she went the distance for our peace"

I love when people look at me doing things and assume I’m just a single girl with all the time in the world.
🤣I have 7 kids and a total of about 2 days a week to chase my dreams. I homeschool, work , serve, And I’m in school for my Masters. So I absolutely have every excuse in the book to just stop and chop it up to motherhood and life.

But after putting myself second for so long I realized that it wasn’t serving me or our kids.

How could I tell them to do big things without showing them I can do big hard things too. How could I encourage them to be amazing and pursue their dreams if I myself couldn’t lead by example.

We will all have reasons we “can’t”
But don’t allow those things stop you from being all you can be and some!😘

My IG bio simply states:Being what God's Called for. But often times I feel like in today's society, being a mom is not looked at as a calling. I often spent years chasing after another calling. A cooler more marketable calling. A calling that others would see value in.

And then I realized that I was missing one of the most important, impactful, and adventureous callings of all.

MOTHERHOOD.

And that if God was using me to raise his own, that meant alot.

I realized that Motherhood was only the beginning, not the end. It was the most preparation I could ask for, and if I could not only master motherhood, but embrace a limitless mindset , then I could become whatever and whoever God called me to be.
Remember this: A Fierce Woman of God leaning into the calling for her life is good enough any day of the week 🙌 by @confidenceandcake
